That's an okay deal and with that cap hit if he stays the same player he is now you can easily get something of value from him in a trade.

Non-Habs fan two cents.

Ah sorry I read Subbans contract wrong he's at 2/5.75 I thought it was 2/5mil. My bad.

3.5M for a 50-60 points center who plays PP and can feed Pacioretty for the next 4 years? Love it.

Great contract. Patches - DD - Gallagher is one affordable scoring line.

Not bad. Tyler Bozak should not be getting a penny more if Toronto chooses to re-sign him now so I'm a fan of this signing

I'm so happy for Dd, he worked so hard to be where he is today and he is a great player.

Good for Desharnais. Always thought he was a NHL player ever since he was the Martin St. Louis of the ECHL a few years ago, and good on the Habs for discovering him and giving him a chance.

Good contract. I don't think DD or Plekanec are going anywhere even next season. Great to have depth down middle.

Summer 2014 might be when a move is made. If I had to guess I would say Plekanec stays unless his game really falls off. He is too valuable defensively while DD is weak there.

DD gets bashed A LOT but he did prove he can produce legit top 6 points in the NHL and be a successful pivot with skilled wingers something a number of teams have famously lacked in their centermen, stuck witnessing stone handed duds waste their skilled wingers' potential. DD definitely has value in the NHL in a top 6 or even a top 9 on a deep team trying to put together an offensive 3rd line.

That pretty much describes how Montreal/Therrien handles the top three lines.

With the cap doing down 4 mill would of been too much.

WTF? One more penny is the dealbreaker for you?

So 4 years 14 million is an "okay" deal but 4 years and 14,000,000.01 is not a good deal?

bro they dont even make pennies anymore so it would be rounded down anyways

I thought all NHL salaries were in USD. They still have pennies.

Decent enough deal. Far better than the Zajac travesty.

This seems like a good deal for Montreal. Maybe a year too long but the cap hit is pretty tolerable for a 60 point center.

He has no NTC so if Eller and Galchenyuk develops well, Habs could have a good return for DD. It's a atrade-friendly contract I think. I bet some teams would have offered him 5M$ as a UFA in 2014.

Wasn't he on the trade block last year ? I know he plays well vs the Bruins.
