He was never on the trade block. Our best player and made us have 1 respectable line last year

Every player is on the block if the right offer come along

I think he might move after next year .. Chuky would probably be ready by then

It's a well deserved contract no matter what the haters say.

If you are complaining that a top six center makes 3.5 a year you are crazy.

-money is good
-still needs to be insulated by big N/S wingers who shoot - thus his crazy chemistry with Pacioretty
-still a liability in D zone
BUT
can live with the $$$. Term a bit long but he's only 26. AND cap will be going UP after next year

ps comparables;

I wish he was gone after this season.

He is skilled but not my kind of player.

I'd have go with #1-Plekanec #2-Galchenyuk #3-Eller

But hey, depth is never a bad thing I guess...

I would rather have like to give him more money and less year.

Why do Eller fans hate DD so much? This isn't Price vs Halak. There is plenty of ice (not one net) and 9 offensive forwards in MTL.

I saw you were the last person to post, and just by the username, you could tell it was going to be a negative post.

It's like some Habs fans are afraid to have depth. The Habs are 1st in the East because of this depth. You don't get rid of it when you can keep it!

I'm not a Desharnais fan and I'm a Eller fan, but this is a great signing. Not sure why anyone would diss it.

A 50-60pts player for 3.5M$? Anytime.

Just because he signed a contract doesn't mean he won't get traded. It's a win-win. He gets security and a big contract (good for an undrafted player). The Habs get a very good trade asset. I still see Gally as top line center with Eller as 2/3. Either Plek or DD can be traded at any time.

Listen not because he just sign it meen he will be in mtl for the total length of is contract !! He doesn't have a NTC so it meen MB in is back head think about trading him one day .. I love DD but with Eller and galchenyuk coming and plekanec still there I don't see I'm in mtl for more then 2 years .. In 2 years galchenyuk will have to sign a contract so I see DD moving right at that moment or if really next year galy really show he's a 1 centre then maybe DD get move there !!

DD has defenetly more value now then he had not sign ... I heard Vancouver is looking for a centre so does Dallas since Roy is asking for big buck so Dallas might look for an alternative as a second centre for not to expensive .. Apparently Roy is asking around 6m per years for 4 year and Dallas is offering around the same as now witch it 4m cap hit !

Don't put me in the same basket as everyone else. I'm just not a fan of David, not a hater. He is good in his role.

My username isn't really because I like Eller.. I didn't knew what to put.. Slick Rick was used.

But lately I think he should be given more opportunities offensively.

I have nothing against Desharnais right now, but I don't think I'd have include him long term.

4 millions for 3 years.
5 millions for 2 years.

But hey, I won't complain for now, he produces at a decent rate. I just think we have our share of smallish player for years.

Looks to me like the Parenteau deal was used as a comparable during his negotiation process. Not bad.

I'm not the biggest fan of Deshamais just because I prefer centers to have more size. That being said this is a good contract for a player that produces the way he does.

Lol hater's gonna hate !

OMG we can't have depth at center, trade them or don't sign them let them go for nothing when UFA, or trade them for Ninimaa for fox sakes, don't ever give a 50-60 pts 2nd line center 3.5M / year, especially local guys, of smaller stature. He's taking Pleks / Eller / Gally's position, yadayada doodoo !

Depth is bad y'know !

And I'm really good at second guessing and with hindsight I can tell you, the Gomez trade was baad, and Chris Higgins was never a 30 goal scorer so we're much better without him.

Fair deal, although I had hoped he took less.

He probably would have taken less with a NTC...

I prefer giving him a extra 500k-750k without a NTC...

Was thinking he'd get $3M at the very least, so he got a bit more to bypass some UFA years. Fair deal all around so long as his production remains in the 50-60 point range.

Compared to what Zajac And Grabovski was paid (I know to different type players) Glad to see Montreal used some common sense on a 60 point player.Does not hurt other teams trying to get players under contract . I think its a tad high still but not out of line.
