I've been fortunate to meet a few of them. All were super nice. I've been listening and reading them for so long that it would seem weird without them. I can't imagine a Flyer's broadcast without JJ. At all. Still seems weird without Dorny.

I met Bill recently and Timmeh P and both were super nice. Bill took a moment to speak with me and that made my weekend.

You have to be kidding me. Jackson is the most biased announcer in the league. "Oh the other team is so dirty" and when thing aren't going the Flyers way he tries to make everyone feel so sorry for them. It's pathetic. I can't watch a Flyer game unless it's on NBC.

Can you provide a clip of JJ saying that? I can't remember anything like it.

He's a homer, but in the spectrum of homers, he's far from the worst. (Jack Edwards is king there, but there are other aspirants to the crown.)

The one thing that gets to me from JJ is the constant "They say its offsides / onsides" call when it goes against the Flyers--regardless of how obvious the call was.

That frustrates me as well. If I'm not mistaken, the amount of blown off sides calls is generally very, very low per season.

I dont like the apologetic stuff that they do but overall I really think the crew is good. They dont seem over the top like some are.
Of course they will mention blown calls that dont go the Flyers way. there isnt a single broadcasting crew for a NHL team that wouldnt.

He doesn't do it only for the Flyers, though, but for the other team, as well.

Yeah, that was my point:

JJ on the occasion of an offsides call against the Flyers: "They SAY it's offsides."

JJ whenever the opposition brings the puck into the Flyers zone on a close play, "They SAY it's onsides..."

You never hear him say the opposite.

Oh, yeah, no, I meant that he sometimes says "They say it's onsides..." when the Flyers bring it in, as well. Although perhaps he doesn't say "They SAY it's onsides..."

The difference is that they don't get absolutely indignant over missed calls. Some crews moan about every tiny possible infraction the other team gets away with. Our crew will also openly acknowledge when the Flyers get lucky with a call/non-call.

With JJ, at least, it is a more passive-aggressive homerism. Sarcastic when not subtle, etc.

"The Philadelphia Flyers are teaming up with [insert 3 second silence here] STUBHUB!"

Anyone else notice this lately? It seems JJ was having a lot of trouble remember the word "StubHub". I'm not a big fan of the Flyers announcers, other than Jones who is really good. JJ isn't entertaining and talks too much. Coatsy is just irritating with his overuse of the word "ABSOLUTELY".

I think the StubHub thing is a joke. They were supposed to be saying it accentuated or at least wanted to do so, but I guess they never got around to who'd be the person to do it. If you look at the website, the logo is StubHub!, so that's the reason for all of this, I think.

At the beginning of the season, after JJ said "are teaming up with", Coatsey would chime in and scream "STUBHUB!"

Thankfully they put a stop to that.

out of all the philadelphia sports teams, i have to say Flyers are the worst broadcast crew

and truthfully I like JJ and Clement. But they are such homers it drives me nuts

It goes for most hockey announcers in general. I don't know what it is about hockey where all announcers feel the need to be so incredibly biased. It turns me off.

I kind of wish Tim Saunders was on TV, with Jim Jackson doing the radio broadcasts.

ROFL! Excellent job impersonating that.
