No, not Wayne Simmonds. He'll likely be available for trade and is a ufa this summer.

Jagr!

if the man wanted to win yah...but 4.5 million on a one year deal in dallas...i mean.....he's just gonna sell himself to the highest bidder again next year and we'd have to give up alot i think....i'd rather put our dough into a young gritty scorer who can drop them. He'd be a fine addition, no doubt, but just too pricey for me.

Jagr would be a good fit as a rental.

No linked rumors, but I wonder how available Martin Havlat could be, 3g 3a so far this year, still under contract next year.

something like weber + 2nd???

I say anyone who have him that ridiculous contract should be straddled with it.

We are in a really nice position right now with $8,311,667 free at the moment for next year.

Remove Kaberle, Nokeleinen, Weber (probably traded in the summer), Armstrong

That's another 10m right there (excluding ryder).

With basically a full roster signed aside from the 6th D spot, the backup G spot and 1 or 2 spots on the 4th line. All spots that can be filled pretty cheaply.

There's no doubt in my mind MB is going to do something pretty significant with that room.

I'd love for him to do that but we don't really have room for anything significant the DD signing gives us 10 players capable of playing a top 9 position (excluding moen ans ryder) and all signed for next year on defense we have 2 potential top DMen a good top 4 guy in gorges the only glaring need would be a crease cleaner with top 4 capabilities and that'll only cost a tiny fraction of the cap we have

Can't get a major piece without letting someone else go

And that someone else that must go is Kaberle via the compliance buyout. Which seems like a mortal lock considering we're playing kids ahead of him now.

When's Gio's contract up? His 5 mill hit is going to be brutal when the cap goes down.

All valid points but I didn't know kaberle played forward in the top 9...

Both Kaberle and Gionta have 1 year left

Hopefully someone is stupid enough to take Kaberle in a trade and we can comp. buy-out Gionta. Re-sign Ryder.

Patches-DD-Gallagher
Bourque-Plekanec-Ryder
Galchenyuk-Eller-Prust
White-Dumont-Moen

A lot better line-up.

I thought you meant cap wise, sorry.

Prust can play on the 4th line with various shifts in the top 9 when games get physical when the roster is fully healthy next season, this assuming we let Ryder go and acquire a better winger.

We'll have injuries though. All it would take is 1 and Prust is in the top 9.

XXXX-pleky-gio
Patches-DD-gally
Bourque-Eller-gally
Prust-white-XXXX

Subban-Gorges
Markov-XXXX(maybe tinordi if his tryout goes well)
Emelin-Diaz
Bouillon/weber as 7th dman

I honestly think if the right guy fills the three XXXX places this could be a cup contending team next year

I have a real good feeling about Perry coming to MTL. I don't even know why since it's probably unlikely, just tingling a bit!

Maybe you should see a doctor about your tingling sensation because I don't think it has anything to do with Perry coming to Montreal

we trying to make up for hosing them on the Cole trade?
In all honesty, from what I've been reading on the Dallas board is that Morrow seems washed up/broken down. He would obviously be a good vet presence, but, could he handle a war against Boston or even Toronto? That I don't know.

I've heard the same about Morrow but we're not giving up much...I mean, I like Quailer, but am I confident he'll be a solid NHLer? Not really. Without thinking about the cap/contract/where to put him and just looking at pure value, I'd do that deal. Good proposal IMO.
