I suggest: Great Dane, or Greatest Dane?

I love the kid. I've defended him ever sine we acquired him. But we're creating so much hype right now. He's been playing better each game. But he still has a long way to go. If he manages to repeat his performances most nights, then I think it's fair to compare him to big named players. Until then, let's give him time to breathe and grow.

Glad he seems more confident on the ice. He's clearly being more dominant. Hope he manages to keep up his pace.

Hoping for consistency as the season goes on. He's really starting to get looks around the league and I think he knows it. Looks so much more confident out there. The muscle he put on is so noticeable too, he looks huge out there and he's playing like a grown man. I remember that great wraparound goal he had against NJ, hopefully he can get another tomorrow night

Hello Mtl,

So is Eller still trade bait, or is he slowly becoming one of the untouchables?

Have a few colleagues from Ohio who keep mentioning his name and CBJ.

Probably neither. I don't think he'll ever be an ''untouchable'', but he's not a guy who will be looked at as trade bait either. Just a solid, highly useful piece for the club.

Posting this from the end of the last thread:

Ex-Blues GM Larry Pleau talks about Eller.

http://www.lapresse.ca/sports/hockey...kekalainen.php

Apparently Kekalainen had Eller rated 2nd on the Blues 2007 draft list after Voracek. Hard to believe, but that's what Pleau says.

I hear Eller is ,physically , our most in shape player. I think its really possible because he's been playing so well in our back to back games. He looks like he's in top shape, constant effort

Ferraro said yesterday he projects him as a 3rd liner who'd bea ble to fill in on the top 6. Bitter and envious Mcguire was all cautious about him too (consistency).

I'm not sure why these guys don't give him more benefit. All I see is progression. He is also a late bloomer physically.

He's only now going to round into his career as he's done adjusting to the speed of the game - you could see him get frustrated and tunnel-vision more often before. Centre's a brutally hard position and he has all the fundamentals and skills to do it. I hope he keep progressing because he could very well be a Koivu-like player easily.

Tunnel vision, inconsistincies, puck hogging. No one in their right mind would be skeptical of his talent and potential, but there were some problems with his game.

Glad he's progressed at an even higher rate than I expected! I definitely see him as a Koivu type of player with size in the future (thanks whiskey). Same hustle, same intensity, two-way vision!

The other night he was looking more like Marian Hossa, with his constant take-a-ways and puck protection. No, I'm not trying to compare him to Hossa but that's who he reminded me of in that Ottawa game. If he turns into even half the player Hossa is, maybe like a Hossa-lite, then we've got ourselves a good one.

Me either, thought he had a lot of potential when the Blues drafted him. Obviously there were deficiencies in his game, but he's young and still improving. I believe he has only begun to scratch the surface of what he can become. Lets hope that he reaches his full potential with the Habs.

Eller can be a 70-80 point player if he gains a little awareness and decisiveness.
