Glad to have gotten something for him rather than lose him to waivers for nothing, even though the fifth likely won't be anything either. Brennan never achieved Gragnani/Butler status with me that I was begging Regier to get rid of him but I certainly don't mind it.

Dineen had to have had a say since he coached Brennan in the AHL. Maybe he sees something in him we don't and believes he still can get better but I see him as a Marc-Andre Bergeron at best. Very similar players but Brennan's problem was he couldn't hit the net enough. Didn't help the PP much at all and that was his sole purpose as he wasn't helping the team in any other areas.

Yeah, I'm sure they will plug that spot with Pardy. Someone earlier in the thread implied that Regier hinted that he would have had to waive Brennen to clear space if he didn't trade him. Needing to clear space implies more than just wanting to bring up Pardy. I didn't hear Regier or see the quote, though, so maybe it's just taken out of context. Either way, we'll see what happens in the coming weeks.

Pominville for 2 roster players, a pick, and a prospect (e4)

Not thrilled about it, I know I'll take crap for saying it though. Brennan wasn't playing well at all this year, but I think he could still be a decent 3rd pairing D-man and be useful on the PP.

only thing that bothers me about it is that it signals that Regier is going to keep the team status quo for the remainder of the season instead of selling veteran assets in attempt to start a rebuild.

How does this signal that?

I do not understand why Darcy is even making these moves....

He should be gone. The new GM should be selling off UFA's for picks and prospects.

Then hire Thier new coach after the season ad build your team.

I'm kinda bummed he was traded. He was hella fun to watch in Rochester, and I could visibly see how frustrated he was with his play in the NHL.

Florida is taking a shot on the potential that they may be able to teach a young, talented D-Man to play more effectively in the NHL. Our staff obviously does not have the chops for it at this time.

Any asset - especially a pick - for this scrub bag is well done IMO.

Good. ****in'. Riddance.

Brennan with a sheeooohhhhhttttt and that one missed wide.

Brennan shoooooots .... And that one's high.

Brennan takes the shoooohhhhtttt and it's blocked.

Brennan goes to shooooooooot, and it's poked away by Thorburn.

Won't miss any of those four quotes

I just remember how aggravating Brian Campbell used to be as a rookie. Good luck to tj.

Our depth at defense just wasn't looking for him to succeed here.

Our depth at defense isn't looking like we thought it would look before the season started either.

No, a 5th is what you use as an extra incentive in a trade or to move up in the draft.

And just for laughs...

Hockey Buzz Eklund ‏@Eklund

Tallon getting tj brennan from buffalo for a 5th is insane. Talk around is if teams shocked he was avaliable for a 5th.

Hockey Buzz Eklund ‏@Eklund

Sabres also moving grigo to junior at this point also baffles me. Guess the race for Jones/MacKinnon is offcially under way...

This kid couldn't win the confidence of Ruff or Rolston at this level. He had the chance: this team is in desperate need of offense from the back end, and any boost to the PP, and he provided zero offense and made our PP worse with shots that missed so badly they wrapped around the other way out of the zone or into the other team's possession.

Translation: Darcy traded a guy without demanding a 1st or 2nd round pick as compensation?

Can't argue with any of that....but he still wasnt given much of a shot... little harsh to be calling him a scrub.

A 5th round pick in the NFL is a player who COULD possibly make the roster. In the NHL, it's "future considerations". Yes, Ryan Miller was a 5th round pick.... name some others.. and then divide that over 30 teams.
