42's not bad for a d-man. Would've preferred 44 on a big boy like Tinordi.

I don't think that's where anyone considers putting the "safe money/bet", though.

of course. Nothing is sure. But saying McIlrath upside is to become a goon is like saying Tinordi upside is to become a Valabik clone...... both have way higher upside than that.

I just want to see him dishing out pain in front of the net. Do that, and I am happy.

He has to, it's one of the best things he does. Very good on the PK all season long for the Dogs.

In some ways yes but he's so damn tall and mobile it's hard to compare him to anyone as you just don't see many like him.

I wouldn't expect him to dish out much pain but he can clear the crease and is steady in his own end. Plus he keeps it simple and safe. It would have been cool to see him with Subban and put Gorges on the right side with the Cube. Don't really like that he's playing on his off-side but hopefully that isn't an issue. Then again I'd also rather see Emelin moved back to LD, put Subban with Markov when Diaz gets back.

Is he bad at fighting? I mean it would be amazing if he could develop a good ability at punching people within a few years so he could pummel Chara before he retires in some kind of battle of the titans.

It would definitely hurt Boston fan's psyche to see a behemoth wearing the Canadiens' shirt take down their hero of darkness. A transition of sort, they'd have nothing left going for them and that would be immensely satisfying.

Him and Lucic will scrap at least once next year. I'm calling it.

He isn't going to be a dominant heavyweight like a Boogaard or a John Scott. And he isn't going to be scraping 20+ times a year. But I do see him scraping 5-10 times a year and holding his own against the majority of heavy's the league has.

Tinordi shouldn't fight the heavyweights of the league, at least right off the bat. He doesn't have the strength for that yet. If he wants to make a statement by dropping the gloves he should pick his opponent wisely. Don't want to see what happened with that Ottawa player happen to Tinordi.

Tinordi will be a great shutdown defenceman and that's what he was drafted for not to be a goon.

Has Tinordi shown any flashes of an offensive game in the AHL, or is he a pure shutdown d-man?

If Tinordi proves to be effective soon (a couple of months), he might be used to pair Markov, and we could potentially send Emelin back on the left side?

For as long as Markov is on the team, Emelin is likely going to be paired with him for a majority of the game. If Tinordi proves to be effective, it will be in sheltered minutes this season. He is not going to be the next Subban (as far as being thrown into the fire and playing big minutes in his first stint in the NHL). Tinordi is going to be played the same way Pateryn was. He will likely be sent down in a few games after evaluations, unless he completely surprises everyone. Even if that's the case, he will still play sheltered minutes. MT is not going to rush his development, let alone risk breaking the kids confidence.

Don't count on it. I'm sure all if Boston tough guys would bloody our kid. He's just not built solid enough yet and needs more muscle.

Won't happen more than once. If we clear the front of the net, it's a penalty. The other team does it, it's all fair.

A couple of mental cramps (bad pinches, the stick retrieving), to be expected, but he's impressed me with some real crisp passing.

Not looking out of place at all.
