Best player in Isles History

In the recently published magazine The BEST of Everything in Hockey by The Hockey News, they listed Bryan Trottier as the best player in Isles history.

Would you guys agree ???

I would disagree

----------------------------------------

BTW they listed the Isles all-time team as

Gillies - Trottier - Bossy
Potvin - Persson
Smith

Al Arbour

2nd team

Tonelli - Lafontaine - Nystrom
Langevin - Tomas Jonsson
Chico Resch

best draft year in 1974

I picked Potvin for a few reasons, the biggest being that when he came in 75 there was nothing else on the team. By himself he turned the team into a stronger franchise. When Trotts and Boss (both great - don't get me wrong) came in the team was already forming into the powerhouse it would become.

The other reason I picked Potvin is the neverending pounding he gave the Rag$ when they would play.

I still love hearing the chants in the Garden about Potvin and his Wife !!! Only reason they still show up is because the Rag$ fans know Potvin killed them over and over again !!!

44 looks and only 7 votes

I myself would prbably go Potvin.

Potvin or Bossy flip a coin.

Bryan Trottier is one of the greates two-way centers of all time and
Denis Potvin was one of the greatest two-way defensemen of all time.

My vote is Denis who was the Captain and Leader of the Islander dynasty teams!

Probably only 7 votes because there are a few names missing, and no "other" category for those who wouldn't vote for any of those three.

I would personally say Billy Smith. Because I personally feel that goaltending accounts for more than any other aspect of the game, and Billy Smith is known as one of the best (if not the best) Money goaltenders of all time. But that is just my opinion.

I also want to mention that Kenny Morrow didn't make either first or second teams???
I highly recommend reading this article on morrow:

Best Ever

I'd go with Denis Potvin, for both his offense and his defense. He was amazing.

I think you know where my vote goes, though you really couldn't go wrong with any of the three choices. To think that all of those guys played together on the same Islander teams, the same era. Amazingly spoiled were those of us who got to witness it. And, on the other hand, somewhat of a sad commentary on this franchise since that time.

A quote from Al Arbour -

"Bryan Trottier was the heart and soul of the team. If I had to choose one guy I wanted out there at the most crucial time it was him. He did everything incredibly well."

Nuff said.
