Colorado might come out nervous and desperate because if they lose today, they really are climbing a high mountain to even sniff a playoff spot. We HAVE to put them away today and get the points that we need to maintain a playoff spot and be in position to take over the division.

i expect Colorado will come out physically punishing...this could lead to great opportunity. if we just sit back and take it without capitalizing i'm going to complain about how we didn't hit back.

Gonna be tough playing Colorado in their building. They've been good at home and even beat Chicago there. Being optimistic and going for a 3-2 Wild win but wouldn't be surprised if we get beat.

I so wish Wild would always play early on the weekends.
My buddies I got into Minnesota sports in Europe like the early starts too.

I will say though, GOING to early starting hockey games is pretty horrid, and I went to plenty being an ECHL season ticket holder for 3 years.

Even 5pm local time Sunday games seemed like downers.

I gotta think that Colorado comes out red hot and mad. The game will be a dirty penalty filled game, and if the Wild's PP sucks again the Wild will lose 3-2. If the PP scores at least once today, then Wild win 3-2

Anyone know if butch is starting or if its Zucker? Honestly I'd like to see butch out there today because 1. Same lineup as last game should work good and 2. Just want to be extra cautious with him for a little bit.

Our respectable league's, SM-liiga's, round of games starts 5pm (on weekends) or 6.30pm (on weekdays). Yet most of the times there's a pretty good atmosphere. Well there are some bad teams that quiets down a bit but usually it's a great croud, even in the smaller arenas.

Don't people get drunk enough or what's the reason for the silent afternoons?

The last I heard it seems PMB is in there. Zucker was skating with the team yesterday but the spec as of this morning was PMB will play. That could have changed since then but that was the latest around 10ish this morning.

Well, it's hard to compare our atmosphere to that of European atmosphere (with basically soccer culture fandom).

Also, you have a lot of fans that would be yelling and screaming priced out of the games because it'll cost you quite a bit to get to a game just in general. So atmosphere is down across the board.

Those games were just all downers, at least in hockey. Football no, people are always up for that, but an 82 game season and an early afternoon game? Usually not that insane.

I'll be at Wild/Sharks this next Saturday, which starts at 1 our time because the WCHA Final Five Final is at 7, so I'll get a better feel for it here, but I would assume it would be more muted than night games (which have been hit and miss

I've been to eight games this season, and I've seen people post about good atmosphere, and to me it just looks like our standards have gone down. What qualifies for good atmosphere isn't what it was even ten years ago.

The "event" promotion of sports, and the pricing out of fans (which is happening all over European soccer as well) and the kind of PC brigade where you can report fans and everyone sits on their hands and doesn't get into the game is really hurting the experience here.

That's just my opinion, from my friends who have had tickets here since the Wild existed they've talked about its major shift, and from when I was a little kid with the North Stars a lot has changed. Some may have other takes, but that's mine.

It's not just hockey -- it's everything aside from college sports over here.

We are not getting coach Mike Yeo before the game, but I saw Niklas Backstrom doing his turtle walk. I didn't make eye contact, but the routine indicates he is of course starting.

I am not positive, but I am hearing the same lineup as last game, so that would mean no Jason Zucker, Brett Clark or Nate Prosser.

Jean-Sebastien Giguere is starting for the Avs.
Wild visits the Avs in a Saturday matinee

Just an fyi: It will take awhile for my postgame blog to be up after the game. I'm going to rush in a game story, and then make the long jet out to the airport because I'm trying to get on a 6:55 p.m. flight to Vancouver tonight. So go to www.startribune.com/wild for the gamer and notebook and Sunday Insider. I will try to blog from the airport before my flight. Otherwise, I'll post the blog after I get to Vancouver.

I'm fine with Zucker resting another game, rather be sure he is 100% than risk it.

And hell PMB looked pretty good last game... if he can play like that for a few weeks, he just raises his trade value!

I would really like to see Zucker back out there giving that second line some jump. But you can never be too cautious with a young player with so much potential. I just hope PMB has another good game.

I have a feeling we lose this one. I'm excited for this early game, because it gives me a reason to start drinking besides the whole Saint Pattys stuff. But whenever I'm excited for a game we usually come out and **** the bed. So..

Wild lose 4-2
