Ooooo just wait until the Bieksa/Alberts pairing is out there against Datsyuk or Zetterberg.

And dammit, our boys in blue and green, yellow and black, yellow, black and orange, yellow, black and some orangey-reddish colour, black, purpleish and white, blue, green and white, purple and white had better step a long way up for this one. No excuses tonight.

Like when Alberts dropped Datsyuk like a bad habit last season?

I disagree, Ebbett had a really good game, Hansen had a really good game. Alberts played good for him last night, which means he was still our worst player, maybe tied with Bieksa last night. Guess he had that one rush

That rush earned him points for a few games.

I think Alberts has played okay in his limited time. But not sure why Ballard is scratched. He has been great this season.

? albert had a really good game for both himself and for a 6th defenceman. if he had that game every game he'd be the best 6th in the league

he made multiple good players, some that lead to chances and others that lead to goals

ebbett and hansen having good games doesnt exclude, or really, have anything to do with alberts

The only thing I can think of (putting my blind hate for AV aside ) is that the Canucks want to see how this team performs without Ballard in the event that he is traded to bring back some help in an another area that needs to be addressed. Keeping him out of the lineup lessens the likelihood of him being injured so we don't lose a tradeable asset. Ballard has already proven that he can play well this season so it's not like we need to keep him in there to prove that he can play.

On the other hand, I don't know why AV would be ripping Ballard in his press conferences and saying that he needs to be better if we were trying to increase his trade value. Hmm, now that I think about it that way, AV just hates Ballard.

this was the only game I could remember that he wasnt a consistent defensive liability, he played ok, but really didnt provide anything that makes him more valuable than Ballard or even Barker for that matter. He doesnt use his size often enough and is too slow to be useful imo. If we had no better options, i probably wouldnt be so critical of his play, but when there is competition for that spot, his play doesnt cut it imo

They should go with no ads on boards tonight to add to the feel.

Defensive breakdowns down low and covering the points have to stop or its going to be a long night. 3rd line scares the heck out of me, hopefully AV shortens the bench early if... Hopefully Bones rights the pairings.

He'll probably walk around our D a couple times atleast

I say he exposes Edler 3 times
I say Edler puts the shoulder to him.

Detroit is not a very good team anymore. Their drafting has sucked over the last 5 years.

Unlike the past, we should be able to win this game. This is an expect win.

As a Canuckfan, one really does have mixed feelings on this subject.

On the one hand, you want to see Alberts get really schooled in his own zone (which likely happen if he's ever on the ice against the Wings better forwards) so maybe - just maybe AV would get his head out of his azz; on the other hand, as a Canuckfan - you want Alberts to play well.

Sad thing is, it shouldn't have come to this. Just play the best players available (either Ballard or Barker) - especially against a team like the Red Wings.

AV's stubborness is what will get him fired.

No, Kassian is out with back pain. Sistito draws in and Pinner probably gets bumped up.

a return of The Great One to the top 9, Higgins and Booth must be thrilled...

Little surprised Pinner didn't get the bump up considering he took over for Kassian after his 3rd period benching. We'll see how long it lasts, I would bet Pinner gets a few shifts in the top 9 before the night is done.

Ugh, what is AV's infatuation with useless plugs like Weise and Alberts??

I would also bet on Pinizzotto getting some looks on the third line, but we all know how much AV likes Weise so you never know
