You would give that up for a guy you will not be able to keep for sure?

2nd next year + Bickell + McNeill/Pirri

would be a good starting point to get a RFA like Gagner

If you wanted Gagner, then you do it anytime in the last 2 years. To trade for him now would be utterly stupid - given his inflated value due to be a ppg player so far this year.

With no chance of resigning him, Iginla is way too much for a rental.

I agree with this, but if the price was something like Bickell + 1st + no needed prospect I'd say yes

What about Kruger + 1st? Let's say that's what it takes.

Maybe the Hayes brothers could be of interest?

Jimmy though a nice prospect is one of many similiar good prospects (Morin , etc) and Kevin Hayes is behind guys like McNeill/Danault in pipeline

As not a big fan or watcher of Flame games can Iginla play LW well? Cause RW on Hawks is pretty much set at this point IMO

Iginla-Toews-Kane
Sharp-Bolland-Hossa
Saad-Shaw-Stalberg
Bickell-Kruger-Frolik
(Carcillo)

And ideal world Sharp would flip back to C and Hawks would roll with

Saad-Toews-Kane
Iginla-Sharp-Hossa
Bickell-Bolland-Shaw
Frolik-Kruger-Stalberg
(Carcillo)

i saw the last 2 flames games. yesterday, despite their offensive explosion, iginla was basically a non-factor and I'm not even sure he played against detroit on wed, can't really remember him doing anything

also, any line with Sharp at c is kinda dumb. if it didn't happen last year, especially when toews went down, its not going to happen.

I know it appears it wont happen

But he was solid at that spot when we won cup ,, I just wish someone would remind him and Q of that

Would open up alot of possiblities to acquire another top 6 winger and allow us to put together a Bickell-Bolland-Shaw line to screw with opponents

If Flames really want that in return, they have no intention of trading Iginla. That asking price is way beyond unrealistic and not even the stupidest GM would consider it........

we are thin at Center and won't trade a C away.

If you say this cause I say trade Bickell... Bickell will be a UFA while Krüger is a RFA.

I don't want to see players moved that we don't need to move because we can keep them over this year. I'd prefer to trade Bickell and if we get a good good player back, I'd consider Stalberg too. Iginla wouldn't be the guy I would move Stalberg for

Agreed, but looking at it from the other side, no cap worries if Kruger is gone. Maybe Iggy does a Bourque thing and re- ups for a year. I'm 50-50 on that proposal though. I like Kruger but I feel Iginla is a born Blackhawk and would love to see that and an amazing chance at a Cup.

we have a better chance at a cup if we make a move for a2c than if we trade a center for oldginla

I'm a little surprised we haven't seen more movement around the league.

Standings are too close

Also team that would have been major seller lost its best pieces to trade (Weiss + Versteeg on Panthers)

I am now convinced we must keep 1st and 3rd lines together

Thus trading Bolland + for upgrade at #2 should be primary goal

No Gagner

He's soft, streaky and quite frankly the Hawks don't need another finesse player. They have their core and need to surround them with guys who play tough and skilled. I would consider sending Kyle Beach to Dallas for a guy like Morrow who has definitely slowed, but plays hard nosed and brings a bunch of leadership. Beach, Montador and maybe a late pick for Morrow.

It would be insane to mess with this team right now.

Why get Iginla? This team needs C not more wingers. Not only that but Iginla is well past his prime and to give up that much for a non need old rental is beyond dumb. It would be one thing if you needed him but the Hawks have 0 need for another top 6 RW, he is not as good as Kane or Hoss so 0 desire for him.

No to Iggy, especially not for a #1 and certainly not a roster player + #1 pick. Never happening.
