if there's one player I hope the Oil could get (for starters) it would be Stewart out of St. Louis.

Kellan Lain signs in Vancouver....we could have used a 6 foot 6 C with good faceoff skills on our 4th line...

If we can sign Dekeyser than I won't care one bit. I know it's a long shot but he is worth keeping the last spot open for with the 50 man limit. That is why I don't blame the team for not claiming Hall. No matter how remote the chance of signing Dekeyser we have to give ourselves the opportunity to get him as he is a bigger need (and fish) than anyone else (so far)

He has Gaustad potential IMO. I don't see his offense really translating into top-6 NHL success

We need to clear a couple contracts and take a shot at a couple of these guys. You guys think Tambo will sign anyone of them?

Seeing as we have Smid, I won't be surprised if Tambo picks up Andrej Sustr, who is a 6 foot 8 D from the Czech Republic playing for Nebraska

I'd like to see Gagner signed for 3 years at 4.25 per annum.

If he ends up anywhere near 48 points in 48 games I'm sure it will be far more than that.

Haha imagine the size of our D core with that guy, being on Marincin, Genat and Bigos just to be the tallest D in the NHL.

Man Rangers need a change....their forwards suck. Not sure what happened to B. Richards and Gaborik. The only forward that looks good on tht team is Nash.

Maybe now is the time to strike.....Hemsky for Girardi/Staal (if recovered from injury)?

Hemsky for both? You'd probably have to give hemsky++ for staal.

I would too. With the way his season is progressing I see someone offering him 4 or 5 years at a minimum of $5M. Doubt it will be the Oilers though.

It's funny how we never hear any rumblings about what he might want whenever his contract is up. I'm sure that his agent is salivating due to his performance this year but I've always got the impression that Gagner is all about the team. If he has to take a slight hit in salary to stay then he might be okay with it.

Starting price is Gagner-like value.

Do we consider Anton Stralman an upgrade over what we have? If so, is he worth getting?

I hope they move him for an average top-4 defenseman, making one of McDonagh/Staal available for trading for a replacement (Eberle).

McDonagh for Eberle is a pipe dream that I started on this board (trade rumour section a few weeks back) and one that I'm going to stick to. I pray for that deal to go down.

Similar to the Lupul+ for Pitkanen deal of a few seasons back.

He's been surprisingly solid in every role he's ever been thrust into. Definitely would be above-average for a bottom-pairing defenseman. Would rather see him there than N.Schultz

No Hemsky for Girardi or Staal. Girardi has 1 more yr just like Hemsky before he is UFA. Staal has 2 more yrs before UFA. 1 for 1 normally I can't see them doing it. But they may be desperate so now would be the time to try...

Both are worth more than a Hemsky if their UFA situations are identical to his.

I wouldn't take Staal. I have a feeling he's going to CAR when he's UFA - making it tougher to grab a McDonagh right now in case that's what we want to do.

I agree that Ganger is totally a team guy and a hard competitor but the Oilers and many fans haven't been that high on Gagner the past few years so I see no reason why he should take a discount for us. Especially after the Hall and Eberle contracts, they got paid so why shouldn't Gagner?

I ran into Smid at a club here in Edm in the summer. My buddy was telling him that he was worth $4 million. He told us "tell this guy (grabbed some dude).....he is my agent". Was a good laugh. Now obviously we were all gooned but he seemed like he would have been happy with $4 million per at that point.

Now there is a new CBA, season is almost done, and the market for dmen is small and in demand so maybe he is expecting more.......

Sather owns other GMs in trades. There's no chance the Oilers could get Staal or Girardi for Hemsky. No way.

I actually agree with you....

Have to say though that I love how some of clowns talk in absolutes as if you guys are actual GMs or have connections in the hockey world. They are your opinions. Not facts

"No way blah blah happens"
"The cost of so and so is Gagner..."
