I suppose that's true, but Johnson won't get bigger/tougher and they play polar opposite games

You guys think Johnson gets traded? Leading goal scorer in the AHL, true. But small. We already have a plethora of small forwards. If we play against a physical team in the future with this many small guys, we are going to get crushed.

He coud bring a modest return, packaged with another asset.

What would that other asset be? I can't see a guy like Johnson getting too much back just based on his AHL resume.

Its his first game. I'm sure he was a bit startstruck.

It was just a hypothetical. I feel we wouldn't be a very physical team at all with all the small players coming up. Was just wondering, since Johnson is the leading scorer in the AHL and we have no absence of offense, AND we are pretty soft/non-physical, if Johnson was redundant/expendable.

I see Johnson as a smaller Fillpula. He's very good defensively and on the PK as well as highly skilled and fast as hell. Tyrell would have a hard time catching him in a foot race.

Johnson was never drafted, but I think he was still pretty well known prospect. He didn't fly under the radar like Conacher did. WHL playoff MVP, WHL and Memorial Cup Champs, WJC goal medalist, and put up big numbers in the WHL to go along with other awards. Johnson was at Minnesota's and Phoenix's camp, and had interest from other teams. We were just lucky nobody else signed him before we did. So far Johnson's play at the pro level isn't looking so much like the gamble other teams were afraid of taking.

Thank you. Yea, with Purcell, Conacher, and St.Louis, your organization finds some gems that get overlooked.

Having not saw his first game, I posted this. ^

What speed and tenacity. Great player. Do not trade.

Johnson has not lost a faceoff in the past 2 games.

14-0.

Yeah, but he gets thrown out a lot. It's kind of cute.

Honestly Johnson is the offensive prospect we have I'm the most excited for, well besides for Kucherov. I want to see him in a Bolts Uniform for a long time. Kid has some talent thats for damn sure.

it is really unreal how crafty he, Tyrell, and Conacher are when they move their feet. I think they use their size at full speed so well. Marty has always been a shifty player, but the 3 of them are straight to the dirty areas, full steam ahead. Its awesome

You can compensate for some size if you have enough grit, it's not like any of these guys are extremely soft, they're all tenecious and puck hungry. They aren't like the Oilers young stars who don't chase the puck down and get manhandled by bigger guys.

Honestly I think we'll be stonger keeping all of them, then trading some away for just for size.

True dat. The only one I would potentially move is Connolly, but it would be for a Dman. And that's not a knocl on Brett, just acknowledging his value and our relative lack of depth in D after Barbs/Korobov.

We have quite surprising depth, don't buy into the hype here. Witkowski, Sergeev, Nesterov, Blujus, Koekkoek.

Agreed, Connolly doesn't have the same tenacity as the other guys, perhaps that has/will change after his time in Syracuse.

Classic case of hard work vs talent/skill.

He'd be really nice trade bait for just about any acquisition.
