1) If we're selling one of Buffalo's goals is going to be offloading salary. Pominville is on a pretty sweet deal at 5.3m. Buffalo wouldn't take back what's essentially a cap dump/2nd Stafford in Booth unless we were getting increased value for doing so, which is clearly not happening here.

2) The young player/prospect would have to be better than Connauton. He doesn't look like he offers much defensive or physical upside, and we already got rid of two project offensive defensman in Brennan and Gragnani and have another in the pipeline in Gauthier-Leduc. We need real value coming back for a 60-70 point two-way playmaking winger, and if we're not getting a top prospect, it's just not worth our while. Deal would have to start with Gaunce or Jenson. Even Jensen would, at best, be Buffalo's 3rd best prospect after Grigorenko and Armia. I know many Nuck fans consider him untouchable, but I'm sure many thought the same about Hodgson too until he was traded.

TL;DR: Not enough value.
Completely understandable. I don't think Booth is a negative to the right team but Buffalo may not be that team.

As far as Jensen goes, I've thought Jensen is better than Hodgson since before Hodgson made the Canucks. They've played together and I felt/feel Jensen is more impressive. I would not be so quick to decide which prospects are better.

1st + Despres + Kennedy

for

Pominville + Buffalo's choice of 5-7 defenseman on the NHL roster.

That's the realistic value. Would hate, hate, hate to give up Despres but Pominville shouldn't be on the market. They will only want a young roster player as the main piece along with a 1st. Prospects are nice to give, but doubt you'll see them as the MAIN piece going back for Pominville. I'd much, much rather give up Maatta or anybody of the sort, but as I said, realistally wouldn't be the case.

EDIT: With the positive reaction to Zero's offer, I would not complain

Oh geez. TK, Maatta, and a 1st has turned into Pittsburgh's version of Halak, Ryder, and a 2nd.

Matta, despres, 1st would get it done IMO if Pominville did become available, which I don't think he will

Why would Buffalo hold onto him and get nothing for him when he walks as a UFA ....or they do not want to sign him because of salary issues.

The even acknowledge they will do some sort of rebuilding mode with a youth movement with some veterans brought in and kept.

The idea is to make a significant change in the players around.

Miller will get traded---his heart is on going west and being closer to his wife.

Pominville will be available and he will get traded.

Vanek is the one they want to keep so he likely doesnt get moved until next season after talking a possible contract extension.

If you threw in a 2nd, I think I'd do that.

Or if you're slightly uncomfortable with that, we could do like the Gaustad deal with a 4th or 5th and go:

Niderreiter + De Haan + 2nd

For

Pominville + 4th/5th

So much ridiculousness in this post, I really hope this is true but you are completely blowing smoke out your ass. Find me a source saying pominville in being shopped and miller wants to go out west. Darcy just said yesterday he doesnt plan on blowing it up

He also said if a deal came around that made the team better he would act on it. Maata, 1st and despres ain't half bad.
