River readings: Won't be surprised at all if the Rivermen get a couple of impact guys from AHL Worcester this week. The AHL club has a jammed roster, and has left wing Igor Valeev and enforcer Brett Scheffelmaier ready to come off long stays on injured reserve. It's possible Peoria could get both those NHL-contracted players - Valeev was St. Louis' third-rounder in 2001 and blueliner Scheffelmaier was its fifth-rounder in 2001 - down for conditioning soon.

As a side note, I spent a few minutes with Jame Pollock's dad during Sunday's game. Nothing "print worthy" was discussed, but it's easy to see why Jame is such a good guy...the apple didn't roll very far from that tree.
