I loved Paul Laus when he was here. But hes PAUL LAUS. Not Gordie Howe.

Give me a break with this garbage. He was a fan favorite during his time but in the big picture he was not a significant player in the history of this franchise. His number deserves no special treatment.

brennan was acceptable tonight. no glaring errors, a goal, a bit weak on his board work and not very physical around the net. also i din't think his speed was anything special. i liked how he got in on the rush, but wingers better be aware as it's a defensive liability. overall i'd give him a B his first game. i still liked ellerby a lot more, but we'll see how he develops. hope he can consistently take the next step without being a defensive liability.

i couldn't care less what your personal preference is....regardless, i wasn't even talking to you, but instead to the poster insinuating the panthers were being disrespectful to their past by letting brennan have paul laus' number. He's Paul Laus; not anyone significant.

as far as Brennan - i thought he came as advertised by Sabres fans. his offensive game was pretty impressive, extremely aggressive and a hell of a shot. his defensive game looked sloppy as hell. he had a terrible turnover and he lost his man on the boards several times.

he's going to be an all-or-nothing type of player. if he puts up points, i could see him developing into a James Wisniewski type of offensive defensman. great on the PP, physical, but sloppy in his own zone. if he doesn't put up points, he won't be in the NHL.

If Laus played close to 20 years for this team, then I'd understand people being upset about it. It's just a number right now, this team is yet to see a player worth of having their jersey retired.

I thought Brennan had an outstanding game. I'm rooting for him to be successful because I think it will lessen the possibility of us taking Jones if we get the first pick. Losing for MacKinnon!!!

While I agree that poster is a bit overboard, I could care less if you care less...as I said.

Brennan me thinkin we found our Garrison replacement. He was obviously the most in-control player last night.
He was quick with decisions, knows what a backhand pass is, very net responsible, and those quick wristers kept gettin thru.

Why the hell was he let go? I guess well have to see one of his off nights to find out?

he had to be waived to give room for people coming back from injury, it was either waived and go free or get a 5th rounder. never the less, it was a steal and brennan will become a great PP-player. Eventually a 3rd pairing guy that gets time on the PP - atleast I believe that's his lowest potential

Tried to watch Brennan a lot while I was at the game Saturday.

Liked his play in the offensive zone. Really put 100% there and was rewarded with a goal.

Defensively, he was ok.

Can't have too high expectations for him, overall, but hopefully he can stick around and give a guy like Robak good competition moving forward.

Have to remember Dineen is very familiar with Brennan as he coached him in Portland.

Brennan sounds like the new Dennis Wideman

I only saw Brennan's first game with Panthers, but it seems like people are OK with him here so far.

This goes off-topic, but how has Robak played overall in the last 5 games or so? Lately he's been paired with Brennan so this post is 5% on-topic.

Forgot to say this before but this is probably a pretty good comparison, though I think Brennan is a better skater than Wideman. The rest of this season is definitely an interview for Brennan for next season with the likelihood that Jovo retires in the offseason.

What's the consensus? Now that he's been with us a few weeks? I like him. Only time I notice him is when he's shooting the puck at the net. Which is great in a defenseman. Not too many errors. Seems better defensively than I was led to believe.

I think he's good enough to be resigned atleast. I remember how raw Garrison was pre-Campbell. If Brennans learning curve is even slightly as good (even if he and Garrison are very different players, they both could learn a lot from Campbell and round out to be similiar). The least he'll be is a bottom pairing PP-specialist, IMO.
