Todd Mclellan needs go

Todd has done what was an acceptable job for his time here in SJ but he needs to go. His inability to change his strategy or push this team over the edge is costing us games, his system just isn't working. A change of the coaching staff at the AHL level wouldn't be bad either, it seems like Sommer has lost the room there and productive veteran players go there and become black holes offensively which is never a good sign. I don't know enough about potential replacements to speculate but I'm sure our Associate coach would be able to take the reigns until they make a decision.

He needs to go.......after this season is over so that they can finish as low as possible. Cant risk playing better with a new coach and lose a high pick. And then DW can go with him so he wont have his dirty hands on the draft.

Been saying it for a year now. I don't know how bad he has to be to get sacked.

Yep. But realistically I see DW getting another chance from ownership with a different coach. So if replacing TMac is how it starts .. so be it.

He should have been fired over a year ago.

Why should he? This was his hand-picked head coach.

Well, it wasn't his first choice.
He took McLellan after some heavy urgings by Bowman.

I won't lie. I liked the choice at the time. But as time has worn on, he has failed to adjust in a positive direction and he has to be held accountable eventually and coaches always have a relatively short shelf life. The entire off-ice staff needs to be revamped and eventually then you can handle the on-ice problems.

Yes I know he doesn't want to be a head coach. Replace him in the off season.

This.

Todd has always struck me as "just decent. You think he's good against the bad coaches until you realized that in a big playoff series, he's got no confidence in himself or his team, and he has no clue what he's doing. In addition to his God awful ability to develop chemistry and match lines, he's also lost the room now it seems.

Just fire him. Seriously, let him get a job as an assistant and let Robinson try to do for us what he did in New Jersey.

Anybody who is willing to hold their leaders and veterans accountable and willing to stretch the ice more with their breakouts. They're far too collapsed in their own zone on the breakout.

To me, and this is just my opinion, they have a very poor organizational structure. Their GM, their coach, and their captain all fail to hold themselves accountable and provide quality leadership to the rest of the team.

The guy also needs to know when it's time to sit your starter. It's been time to sit Niemi for about a week now.

Exactly. Now we're at THREE regulation (read: games where you flat out beat your opponent) wins in their last TWENTY-TWO games.

It's time for Hanso Plattner to step in and make some organizational (read: head coach...and maybe GM) changes.

The problem is DW makes lots of dumb little trades, but also makes some of the best trades in the league over and over again. Thornton, Boyle, Heatley, Burns...

I'm 100% sure that's why he's still around.

Heh. And January 27th was the last time we won a game in regulation with a goal differential of more than 1 (4-1 against the Nucks).

I would not want to bring in a new head coach now. I'd rather let McLellan or Robinson finish this season and allow for a fresh start during the off-season both with the GM and head coach...and captain.

I've wanted Ted Nolan forever, but I don't see it happening. He has some national team gig in Eastern Europe, right?
