What if Chicago scored during the OT PP vs Vancouver in game 7 instead of losing shortly after?

What if the Hawks didn't have Amonte in the late 90s and early 00s.

They would have sucked even more ass.

Tkachuk-what if the Jets don't match (probably deal him off in the fire sale with the rest)

Hasek-what if we kept him and dealt Belfour for Lindros, which was on the table. Greatest team of all time?

What if Ramage and Maggy called a ****ing cab.

What if Daze had better health...would we even have Toews and Kane?

Same can be said for Wirtz.

What if Tallon gets his way and we bring back Havlat and don't get Hossa

What if 2 and 7 actually performed to their pay level?

Wbat if they had picked Kopitar instead of Skille?

The Skille over Kopitar one haunts me.
What if we kept Niemi over Hammer (Hammer>Niemi)
What if $bill was still alive
St. Louis took Toews
Esposito trade

It's not exactly fair to say the Hawks should have drafted Kopitar over Skille at the time. There were 3 or 4 players picked between them and it bothers me a bit when people say that we should have picked one guy over another 5 years later because the one guy turned into a star. It's one thing if the guy goes right after him or if you know that Dale was strongly considering Kopitar vs Skille in 2005 but by that logic, why didn't the Hawks draft Datsyuk over Mark Bell in 1998?

No one said they should have, just what if.

CSS had Skille ranked as 11th best NA Skater, Kopitar was ranked as best european Skater

TSN had Kopi going #5 overall and Skille going #9 overall

ISS had Kopitar as #6 overall and Skille #13 overall

going by that logic, it was bad from the moment Tallon called Skilles name because he has a men crush on him. I remember many saying we should have taken Kopitar on other boards. Not sure about HF and it's 5 Hawks Fans back to that time. Should take some time to search the thread back then

Kopitar would have compounded the cap mess. Still, a great asset by the boards. You wonder what the team would look like today if we drafted him.

I think one of the biggest is: What if the Hawks didn't win the draft lottery in 2007? They were originally slated to draft 5th overall. Assuming the draft goes about the same (Kane, JVR, Turris, Hickey) who do they pick at 5? Alzner? Gagner? Would be a way different Hawks looking team.

I always go back further:

What if we didn't get leapfrogged in the 2004 lottery and bumped out of the 2 spot in a draft that featured Ovechkin and Malkin.

So the Hawks would have drafted Ovi...they probably would not have been able to draft Toews or Kane...they would have tried building a team around Ovi...probably would have made Ovi captain...you can see where this is going...

Woulda coulda shoulda, I don't see any point in living in the past because it can't be changed, plus we don't know how any of these things work out.

Just my 2 cents.

That's my thought on it too, which is why I love that "what if." The fates of sports franchises are very fickle.
