Was that game "monkey in the middle" or hockey?

That puck possession was just amazing....

I loved the fact we played third liners against first liners during the last 15 or so minutes of the 3rd - and they played like first liners...

I didn't watch the game (UFC 158 took precedence for this guy) but it sounds like the boys had a hell of a game, really happy to see an offensive explosion against a good goaltender like Kari.

Missed the last 2 periods due to work. That was a dominant performance in all areas. Good to see after 3 lack luster games. Also really good to see them not fall off in the 3rd like they have recently in games with larger leads and let teams back into games.

Also that Drousell kid, or whatever his name is, is owned some payback. Sucker punched Seabs before he drops the gloves and then punches him several times after he was on the ice.

So far we have Bobby Jet, Eddie O, Konroyd and I telling you the same thing. Draws are HUGE. Someday, you will understand.

Maybe if you took a poll of coaches, you would be more convinced?

Good to see Q with lots of class and not throwing them out in the later part of the game. Some other coaches would be double shifting players looking for the hat trick - Q not doing so reinforces that Hawks are playing for the team. Who scores doesn't matter as long as they win.

As much as the offense impressed last night, the team swarming play away from the puck and discipline were also impressive. Even Bollig, after the cheap shot on Kruger, refrained from taking an unecessary penalty, but at the same time got in Morrow's face to let him know he was on thin ice (sort of speak).

Yep. In the first period before the rout was apparent, the Stars commentators commented a few times on Toews killing them at the dot. The importance of winning key draws was so dam obvious at that point, allowing us to keep the momentum and added to the deflation of Dallas.

What's also good to note, is that in Columbus the other night, our of our worst faceoff guys (Kruger) won an important draw late in the game, while one of the best in the league (Toews) lost an important draw late in the game.

Faceoffs are a crap shoot.

no, not really.

If they were a crap shoot there wouldn't be guys like Toews, who win 60%, and guys like bolland who win 45%.

I think the bigger issue than Bolland/Kruger/Shaw's ability to win faceoffs is Q's aversion to putting out Toews for all important draws. I have seen too many times Kruger taking important draws late in a period with Toews on the bench. I really don't think faceoffs would be much of an issue if we took advantage of the fact that we have one of the best guys in the league on the draw.

First thing I thought of after Hoss' second goal was the game a decade ago where Sully and Daze both recorded hatties against the Bruins. It would've been nice for that to happen again, but I guess that's just picking at something.

This was easily the most dominating game they've played all season. I am fully expecting them to ambush Colorado tomorrow.

Don't get it, there was a game recently where the Hawks were on the PK down by 1 with less than a minute and Kruger took the draw in our zone.

Odder still that that game was also the St. Patrick's day game.

Since Toews is so good, he must win all of the defensive draws...oh wait, it was one of our worst that won and not him. Some are better, some are worse, but just because you are good at it, doesn't guarantee a win, critical moment or not.

Sure, but saying Toews loses some faceoffs therefore all faceoffs are a crap shoot is making a huge jump and disregarding tons of statistical evidence.

over the course of a season it matters. its akin to arguing that it doesn't matter who pinch hits in a baseball game.

I still think it's good to win faceoffs, but if you don't it's not the end of the world. You don't lose a 60 minute game because of 1 lost draw. If it comes down to this, you made mistakes before
