It seems obvious that the team is doing an inventory of talent. Figuring out what it has and gearing up for next season.

Or

Exhibiting pieces of young talent in hopes to stimulate a trade. Showing off our assets.

I knew it. So we've lost Adam Hall to Carolina for free - I think if we kept him until the deadline, we might have actually gotten something for him.

I'm cool with it, he wasn't doing much up here and I didn't expect to play hard in the A. Free's up a contract for a DeKeyser or Sustr.

Because he found no takers now doesn't mean there wouldn't have been takers at the deadline. Teams are most willing to spend at the deadline.

A fringe fourth line faceoff specialist isn't going to generate a lot of interest dude.

Agreed, I just don't want Carolina to get him for free.

So you want us keeping him and wasting the money?

Also if it was obvious he was no longer in the plans and they tried shopping him and got no takers what kind of message would it send to potential FA's if they leave him to rot in the pressbox? Putting him on waivers was the good-guy and smart move.

I never said it wasn't a smart move. I'd rather some western conference team or non-division rival had claimed him or we got something for him in return at least if it was a divisional rival.

They're not a divisional rival as of next season. And ****, we're not good enough to be anyone's rival this year, so I don't see how it matters.

Welp, I'm boned. I have a fantasy AHL team and I picked up Tyrell when he got sent down and was getting a point per game. Now that he's called up I have seven forwards on my roster, five of which are in the NHL right now and I'm playing an elimination game in the playoffs.

/end rant

Hall served us well and I wish him good luck but it was a good move, we have lot of talent knocking on the door and it's great to see Dana back in the team!

Yeah it was going to happen sooner or later, but I also thank him for everything. He's been here since 2008, so that ranks him as 27th in most games for a player to suit up in a lightning sweater.

For Dana, I wasn't sure if we'd see him again, so this is good. I forget sometimes he's only 23. Same draft as Killorn.

Pretty much confirms what I had been thinking: that Boucher has been under pressure to test out some of the up and coming guys and try and get something working. I mean, at no point has Hall played badly enough to be a healthy scratch.

What really gets me though is that the team has never really had a chance to build line chemistry this year. The shortened season means you can't really fiddle with things for 30-40 games and still be in the hunt. So, if you're going to bring Tyrell back up, why not put him with Hall and Thompson - a proven line that filled the back end beautifully during a season you were one goal away from the Stanley Cup Finals
