Yea exactly, much like the Schenn deal for Richards. I see whatever prospect we draft this year being traded along with something else for legitimate help in the top 6 or on the blue line depending on our needs in a year or two.
Schenn was traded two years after being drafted and Philly was in a cup contending position.. not really comparable at all.

What does Philly being a Contender have to do with the Oilers? If Anything the Oilers should be compared to LA when they traded there top prospect for one of the best 2 way centers in the league.
I'm betting that if you looked at the other 29 teams in the NHL... they'd have a bunch of crappy contracts among their ~50 signed contracts as well.
The Oilers will obviously cut some chaff this summer just like every other summer. They'll sign some of their drafted players and pick up a few other contracts here and there as well.
They have 12 RFA/UFA players not on their 23 man roster... many of them won't be back... replaced by other players from inside and outside their development system... just like any other year. That article is making a mountain out of a molehill.
On during the 2nd intermission of the Habs / Sabres game Bob mentioed that Nichushkin is committed for 2 more years in Russia. Might scare away a few teams.

Gotta think he's the wildcard of the draft.
Yup, signed a 3 year deal last summer.
He has the talent, but not worth the risk in the top 10 IMO with all the other great talent in this draft.
Kuznetsov was only drafted 2 years ago, kid will find his way to the NHL eventually. There was even word on his team giving him permission to go play for the Caps over as Traktor's playoffs are over (which would help burn a year of his contract too).
If we're picking in the 10-14 range, I hope we have a shot at getting Rasmus Ristolainen. 6'4", 207 lbs., right-handed defenceman. Good skater for his size, polished defensive skills, and untapped offensive potential. He had 6 points and 20 PIM's in 6 games for Finland in the WJ's, and has 15 points in 52 games for TPS Turku in the main Finnish league. I've read some Brent Seabrook comparisons.
He recently re-signed with TPS for two more years, so it could be a similar situation to Klefbom where we leave him in Europe for two years, and then he has the opportunity to make the jump right away to the NHL.

You really can't go wrong with him Zadorov or Nurse. I think all three will be good players, available in the 8-12 range.
What are people's thoughts on Rychel? Seems like a good fit for Nuge-Ebs if we can get a 2nd pick in the 1st round
Big, not super physical, can score from anywhere, pretty good skater(above average straight line speed, average first-step and agility), will drop the gloves, could definitely improve consistency of effort on a shift to shift basis though.
Could potentially be a poor man's James Neal, imo.
I would be happy with any of the top 10's as well, although im not overly interested in Nichushkin due to his khl status (unless he makes it very clear he would come over as soon as his contract is up). Also not interested in Shinkaruk cuz of his size, but he is a borderline top 10 pick anyways.

Great List ...I would love to see Nurse on the oilers. Perfect pairing with J. Shultz. Huge upside, offensive potential and competitive nasty streak. and 6'4-6'5 with a frame to add 35 lbs of muscle from what I read.
One player I'm hoping the Oilers can grab in the 2nd is Slovakian forward (playing in Sweden) Peter Cehlárik.
He's a 6'2 LWer who's put up points in every level he's played, even had 6 points in 8 SEL games this year and just scored his first playoff goal today.
I wonder if he is also taking a look at Sproul. If there is a deal with Detroit involving Hemsky or Whitney in the future, then Sproul is exactly the type of prospect I would hope Tambo would go for.

Rather have Oullett from Det than Sproul. He's better all around but obviously has nowhere near the offense Sproul has.
