2009 Redraft

I thought now that its been nearly 4 years since the 2009 draft we should re-evaluate whether GM's made the right decision

1. John Taveras - no doubt the best player feom that draft.
2. Matt Duchene - has emerged as a dominant 2 way C.
3. Oliver Ekman-Larson - the most complete defenceman in the draft, offence and defence he brings it all.
4. Evander Kane - has been a consistant scorer since entering the league.
5. Nazem Kadri - has finally emerged in the NHL, and continuing to improve as a C.
6. Brayden Schenn - has earned a spot as a top 6 guy in Phili, playing both C and wing.
7. Victor Hedman - a big body defenceman that can put up points, has emerged recently.
8. Ryan O'Rielly - has emerged as prob the best 2 way C in this draft.
9. Marcus Johansson - great 2 way, multidimensional player, playing both wing and C.
10. Dimitry Kulikov - since his rookie year he's fallen a bit, but still a solid dman with offensive potential.
11. Nick Leddy
12. Jarred Cowen
13. Magnus Paajarvi
14. Zach Kassian
15. David Runblad
16. Jacob Silverberg
17. Kyle Palmieri
18. Ryan Ellis
19. Jordan Schroeder
20. Robin Lehner
21. Chris Kreider
22. Tim Erixon
23. Tomas Tatar
24. Louis Leblanc
25. Jacob Josefson
26. Peter Holland
27. Calvin DeHaan
28. John Moore
29. Scott Glenie
30. Eric Wellwood

EDIT:
- moved Robin Lehner from 27 to 20
- moved Jacob Josefson from 20 to 25
- moved Calvin DeHaan from 25 to 27

Lehner needs to be way higher. Top 15 or even Top 10 I would say
IMO after (only) 30 good games Kadri should not be over guys like Hedmann, Schenn, O'Rielly.
Also do not get why Hedman drops to 7, would like to hear your reasoning

^ Agreed on Lehner. I'd switch him and Paajarvi.

Personally I would take players such as Despres, Barrie, Hackett, Kuemper, Cizikas, McNabb, Elliott or Shore over Glennie and De Haan (real shame with injuries)

Glennie should be a 7th round pick.

Chiasson, R. Smith, and Vincour could all make a much stronger push for 29th than Glennie.

Hedman should still be top 5, as well.

Realistically he should be. He had a great year last year (46 points) on a terrible offensive team. He started off slow this year (due to a nagging injury) and then got a concussion. But since he's returned he's looked great. I'm not sure he should be above Kulikov, but he should probably be top 10, especially if Kadri is top 10 while he's only had a good 30 game stretch. Whereas Johansson has had a good 2 years, and was improving drastically before he was injured this year.

Agreed, in my opinion he shouldn't be ranked above players like Kulikov, Cowen and Leddy...

If Mojo = Marcus Johansson then I think at this point in time he should. I mean the guy has the seventh most points out of all the players drafted in 2009. Down the road, yes other players might turn out better ,but I though it would be a disservice to him to not give him some props for his 76 points

No way should Kadri be even close to the Top 5. And I wouldn't call Tavares "easily" the best player out of the draft. He and Duchene were practically even through there first 2 seasons. And now they are very close to one another again this season.

Now Im not saying Duchene is better, I would still take Tavares at #1, but its pretty close still.

My Top 10:

Tavares
Duchene
OEL
Kane
Hedman
ROR
Schenn
Kadri
Kulikov
Cowen

You just contradicted yourself... You said no way Kadri should be close to the top-5, yet you have him 8th.. That's a difference of 3 spots which is pretty damn close considering there's 30 spots.

There is absolutely no reason to put either of Schenn or especially Kadri over Hedman. Hedman is ridiculously underrated.

Well he's obviously not going to be anywhere outside the Top 12, but as far as talent goes, he's no where close to the Top 6.

8th isn't all that close to the Top 5 either when you consider the fact he is obviously a Top 12-15 at least.

The top 6 are a clear tier ahead of the rest right now though.

HM: Calvin De Haan Peter Holland David Rundblad Louis Leblanc Casey Cizikas Cody Eakin David Savard John Moore Tim Erixon,David Runblad..

What you think of my list guy's. You might found MPs is way too low. I'm not saying he doesn't have the tools to be a top 6 but he's being use as a bottom 6 wich he's not one. To be value as he should be he need to be traded to a team like detroit and he'll get a chance to be a top 6. I know it might be weird having Hackett in the top 6 but every time he was called up he as been very impressive. So he deserve to be in the top 30 and ahead of Schroeder. Why is Kruger even in the 1st round, cause he's been amazing for the hawks this year. The kid can play anywhere they need him and he's a great PK player. Lehner may be a tad high but he's gona be one heck of goaltender. Every time he's been ask to deliver he did just that. Also I just can't put Kadri ahead of guy's like Leddy,Marcus Johansson since they've been very good from the get go. Kadri took longer and will see if he can keep it up. Judge my top 30 please.

OEL's getting so underrated. He's probably challenging Tavares for 1st overall, and yet most people don't even have him at 2nd.

Underrated? No

Overrated? By you apparently.

He's still not on the level of Tavares or Duchene. #3 is where he should be.

OEL is #2 easily for me.

Paajarvi is getting underrated big time. People wrote him off way too early but he's honestly been one of our best players for the past 10 games or so.
