Yep, no one on the team can come close to shooting like Hodgson.

Hodgson is a one-shot scorer. Looks like one of those 12-14% shooters this team needs. But it was never going to work with AV as coach, and Gillis made his decision.

Hodgson seems like a good kid. I'm glad to see him doing well.

Buffalo is a classic case of how not to build a team. Nearly $80M dollar payroll (in terms of salary) and they still have to use guys like Hodgson and Ennis as their top 2 centers.

They should be in 29th place by the end of tonight. Probably the worst value roster in recent memory.

Exactly right. The sad thing is they are still scoring goals so will have to pay players like Hodgson good money as a goal scorer. Whether he would be a good goal scorer while being defensively responsible is unknown, because right now he isn't. He would help Vancouver this year as we have only two centers. However he made a good financial decision for himself. Now he is a 1C and will be paid 4 million a year. In Vancouver he would score at a 20 goal pace and get paid perhaps 2.5 million. I want to see an organization win with Cody as their #1 center. Do not think it is possible.

If Paul MacLean doesn't get the Jack Adams..... That team is playing so well, making their goalies look amazing, and he has a great moustache.

Have to wonder what teammates think of Ryan Miller. Was interviewed, and said Kaleta "just needs to grow up", "he's being dramatic" and "he has to get over it". This is in reference to Kaleta being pissed off because he was scratched after his suspension was over (was eligible to play against the Caps today).

I don't think what Kaleta said was anything wrong really - he was just upset because he sees the Sabres playing awful, and wants to add a spark. Perhaps Miller has a point, but he could've gone a much different route than saying what he said.

Miller seems more focused on petty things rather than himself, and his constant whining and blaming of others has to be rubbing teammates the wrong way.

Not a big Miller fan, but it's a bit much to listen to Kaleta accuse his teammates of not playing hard enough when Kaleta brings so little to the table. Can't blame Miller for throwing him under the bus there.

Mentally Miller has already left the Sabres. His body is still catching up.

I see what you're saying, but it always seems Miller is the frontrunner for throwing people under the bus, or criticizing someone, or blaming someone etc. That's when the thought popped into my head wondering what his teammates think of him when he's constantly doing this. Kaleta or not, I think it can make his teammates restless of his actions in the media. Miller either isn't a very good team guy when things go bad, or he's just frustrated how things are going in Buffalo, and this is how he expresses his anger. Never liked Miller either, BTW.

Couldn't agree more. I get a bit of a chuckle when I still see people ranking him in the top five (even ten) of NHL goaltenders.

What happened? Sabres were doing so well coming out of the previous lockout too.

Drury and Briere left for FA because the previous owner was too cheap.

But why weren't Roy and Connolly good enough?

Roy was miscast as a 1C, and Connolly was always injured.

Previous owner was cheap and the new one wanted to make a big show of how much money he'd spend and they blew it on a bunch of dead weight and ridiculous front loaded contracts (Leino, Regehr, Kotalik, Ehrhoff, and Myers).

On paper they're not a terrible team, but they're lacking in the most important positions. Hodgson and Ennis are not #1 and #2 centers on a good team at this point, none of their higher paid defenseman are really capable of living up to their salaries, and they have an overrated goalie.

I could understand letting go of the latter of the two, but to make either one of Hodgson or Ennis your top center is just asking for trouble.

Miller's comments after Ruff disgusted me. He essentially said "good, lets hope it sparks the team".

Terrible attitude for a mediocre goaltender

Roy was scapegoated for last year's collapse.

Whenever Miller opens his mouth, all that comes out is whining, complaining, you name it. He hasn't even backed what he says (criticizing other people etc) on the ice, which makes the situation worse - well, funny for me at least.
