Frankly, with all the new players in the line up this situation could be much worse. The lack of camp and the shortened season only add to it.

Still there are no excuses in pro sports.

I think the Rangers have about ten or so games to pull it all together and develop team chemistry. That's a tall order, but it is what is. If anyone can do it Torts and his core guys can. Really nice to see Kreider snipe that goal on Marty. Yet another first regular season goal.

The positive:

Chris Kreider are JT Miller were really fun to watch, last night. I'm really excited to watch them develop. Hopefully, it will be with the big club, and they'll never get sent down again.

I though we showed a bit more jump on the offense albeit erratic at times which would be the addition of new guys getting acclimated . I also thought Dev forwards look pretty comfortable cluttering our crease with little fear of abuse from our D a well known thing amongst teams these days when they play the Rangers .

Rangers wins and losses (reason for optimism)

Watching the Leafs lead the Habs 2-0, I thought of starting this thread. Here's the reason for optimism, here are our wins and losses:

Game 1: Bruins (loss): 1 regulation loss, and 1 OT loss. Maybe the best team in the east.

Game 2: Pens (loss): 8-4, has the best 2 players in the NHL. We just seem to matchup poorly with them.

Game 3: Bruins (win): See game 1. Guess who gave them that overtime loss. Oh and that's their only lost point on the road.

Game 4: Flyers (loss): Teams need to know how to play on the back to back, so I won't use that as an excuse. ****** loss. No excuse.

Game 5: Leafs (win): Let's face it they're not that great, but they've been playing some great hockey on the road. 5-1 on the road, including a win against the Pens. Guess who gave them that 1.

Game 6: Flyers (win): Decent win, but they were reeling. A win's a win. Especially in the division, always tough games. Would have been more impressive than 2-1 if Bryz wasn't amazing.

Game 7: Pens (loss): See game 2. Plus we were missing Callahan and Kreider.

Game 8: Bolts (win): Even after losing 3 in a row they have a league best +15 (didn't look at shootouts, which are included). They were 6-1 overall when we played them and undefeated at home. We're their only home loss.

Game 9: Devils (loss): Another candidate for top team in the east, 1 regulation loss. No Cally and Girardi.

Game 10: Isles (win): They're not that great, but they're competitive, started off playing very good hockey. Always a tough game against them.

So in 10 games we had 1 bad loss and all of the wins were impressive in one way or another. Hopefully when our schedule gets easier (not the next 2 games), we can go on a roll.

Sure there are excuses and legitamate reasons why a team underperforms. People may choose to refuse those reasons but no human is perfect so of course there are reasons why a team of people struggles at points. I came here to essentially say what snow said in less words. We have had an exceedingly tough schedule and come out 50/50 with wins against powerhouse teams. I'm not worried at all. Not to mention even if this year flops I think next year will be amazing similar to how in I believe 93 after the pres trophy season the team flopped only to come together in 94 to win it all

There always seems to be a young player the Rangers can put into the line up to wake the older guys up. It's one of the things that's really encouraging about this organization compared to even a few years ago. More youth in the line up and more on the way.

Remaining schedule 2013

After tonight, then 1/ 4 of the compromised season of 2013 will have been played. We are right on the verge of a playoff spot at 6-5-0 - pending the results of tonight´s tough away game in Boston.

We will thereafter have 36 games left to play - against the following Eastern Conference teams:
  • 1st place New Jersey that are 8-1-3 in 3 games (2 home, 1 away)
  • 3rd place Carolina that are 6-4-1 in 3 games (1 home, 2 away)
  • 4th place Toronto that are 8-5-0 in 2 games (1 home, 1 away)
  • 5th place Pittsburgh that are 8-5-0 in 3 games (1 home, 2 away)
  • 6th place Ottawa that are 6-4-2 in 3 games (1 home, 2 away)
  • 7th place Montreal that are 6-4-1 in 3 games (1 home, 2 away)
  • 8th place Tampa Bay that are 6-5-0 in 1 game (1 home)
  • 10th place Winnipeg that are 5-5-1 in 3 games (2 home, 1 away)
  • 11th place Philadelphia that are 5-7-1 in 3 games (1 home, 2 away)
  • 12th place Buffalo that are 5-7-1 in 3 games (1 home, 2 away)
  • 13th place Florida that are 4-6-1 in 3 games (2 home, 1 away)
  • 14th place Islanders that are 4-7-1 in 3 games (1 home, 2 away)
  • 15th place Washington that are 3-8-1 in 3 games (2 home, 1 away)

17 homes games and 19 road games remain. 12 games against Division rivals (3 against each team)
We have finished up our tough Boston schedule already (with 2 away games)
In theory our remaining schedule looks easier than the 1st 12 games - but there are no certainties or easy victories here.

20-16 would barely get us in the playoffs
22-14 would be good
26-10 would be amazing

Thoughts?

as a Ranger fan......it always looks tougher and harder if you break it down like this. No easy games without a doubt. We just need to put a couple of good streaks together and everything else will take care of itself.

You want positivity? I think the Rangers are going to win at a .667 clip the rest of the way out, with a nice lengthy winning streak peppered in there somewhere.

7-5 after tonight with 36 to go.

24-8-4 after that.

31-13-4 will be good for tops in the Conference for the 2nd straight year. That's how confident I am in how the shake-up is working.

Thread of Positivity II

I am going to make myself a hypocrite to those that see my angry posts here and there but oh well Everyone's a hypocrite.

Lots of people are sick of the negativity around HFNYR more than how poorly the team is playing

Let's get a bit more positive energy and consistency around here so that as a board, we're not roasting the team one day after a loss and then making Nashty and Gabbotrick threads after a win.

There's nothing more depressing to pair with losses than grumpiness during a bad stretch.

Peter Pan revived his fairy gal pal with the power of faith in fairies. The world gave The Doctor his powers back at the end of season....4 of Doctor Who... fairy tales and fiction or not, let's stop being so negative

You're hittin the Peter Pan angle hard.

That said, I am generally positive about this team's potential.

I added the Doctor Who reference in there to be creative and appeal to a bigger audience

So happy someone made this thread . I think we still finish in playoff position, whether we make changes or not. From there, it's anyone's guess.

If like to think I'm being reasonably optimistic in saying that despite what happens in this stupid shortened season, we have a very bright future to look forward to in the next few years !

Ummmm I hope ur not too hung over after the St. Patty's Day ritual... It was obviously in full effect this am.
The only thing to be positive about is that as horrific as they've been, there still within striking distance of a playoff spot.

Beginning and end of shred of positivity.

I would be 87% more happy if we didn't trade or 1st. At least then we would have had a top 10-15 pick to alleviate our woahs.
