Ye I think Winnipeg wrote him into the 3rd line in stone. A creative C doing checking duties with grinders...
I don't get why those teams draft those players anyway. Winnipeg is such an obvious case. They just don't do the stuff Burmistrov has played and learned all his career long.

The entire front office that drafted Burmistrov was cleared out and replaced by a whole new group of people when the Thrashers moved.
I don't think too many people even had Bobrovsky on the team, but if he keeps on playing like this then he could very well end up being the starting goaltender!

You may be wrong with that. He was on the NT radar for quite some time now. It's just Varlamov clearly made a statement for himself with the last WC. Anyway Bobrovsky already was called up to the NT 2010 for the first time even before his NHL career and he was called up by the current coaching staff too along with Khudobin btw. The guys are clearly being monitored by the NT staff and if Bob continues to thrive he's obviously to battle with Varly for the no.1 spot.
Btw, sorry CBJ fans, but I hope Columbus doesn't make the playoffs this year.(Could be even better for them in the future. They'll have a bunch of high picks in the upcoming draft. And in a couple of years contending isn't out of question with the group they have now). The russian players on CBJ coming to the WC would be exactly the ones need that evaluation and meet-and-greet with Bill's coaching system. Also Bobrovsky would probably get the call. All very important as Billyaletdinov is known for going only with players he had a chance to evaluate properly and personally.
I'm sure the NT staff has had him on the radar for a while, it's their job after all. I was referring to the posters here, as most people seemed to include Varlamov, Bryzgalov and Barulin as their goaltenders for Sochi 2014.
If Bobrovsky continues like this, I think Bryzgalov should not have a spot on the roster.
Lol I don't understand why everyone is such a downer on Gonchar. Gonchar and Markov will both make the Russian NT a better team and Voynov should be on there as well. Gonchar is old sure, but still a great defenseman whoever makes the decisions would be stupid not to have Gonchar on the team.

It's more of a concern defensively when he needs to face fast elite forwards. Teams can exploit the lack of speed, as we actually saw with a few Defenseman in Vancouver.

Bryzgalov has no business being on the roster regardless. He is awful.
Bobrovsky will be on the team unless NT's scouts are blind.

Volchenkov especially! I like Volchenkov as a D man, but at least one or two Canadian goals were set up because he could not contain the Canadian speed to the outside. Possibly Coach Bill's defensive tactics could alleviate the need to give slower D men so much responsibility to the outside.

His pt is decreased drastically, is he hurt? playing the least amount of minutes on Devils' D, which is not featuring any blockbuster names

He is hurt... for the rest of the time sadly. His injuries caught up with him. He's not his old self and probably never will be again. I guess it's part of the business playing the game he played.
Ppl jump to conclusions after a tremedous run, no doubt, by Bobrovsky, but Varlamov is still the top pick there. Just saw again a thead on the NHL board about JSG ranting about his teammates. Not the first time too smb talks to the press so openly about their locker room troubles. It's basically a team falling apart right now. Not Varlamov's fault he has to hold the fort there. Although I'm already a bit worried over the whole Avs situation.
After that there is a bunch of options and I think even the NT coaching staff will decide very late and after wtching the guys closely in the next season.
I don't think Tyutin is a lock.
Anisimov is.
Yakupov will need nearly a miracle of a performance to get on the team. Yakupov and Nichushkin are the guys for the 2018 Olymopics.
You als basically left of the KHL guys out. On D Nikulin and Medvedev should be locks. Belov too probably. Kuznetsov and Tereschenko will be on the roster too.
what are tarasenko and yakypov doing here? tarasenko is underperformning and what is his toi? 10 min per game i dont see him in sochi. yak is atrocious in his own zone and hence not the type of player bill likes, as well as markov
