Maybe one day soon Torts will wake up

Bolded is nice and like both of you said, its a good reason to keep him in the AHL. Times are rough with the team right now, but giving CK a front row view of it from the bench won't fix anything.

It's better off Kreider doesn't get called up until torts is fired. This idiot is going to ruin his development and his psyche.

Its a shame because imagine kreider with nash and stepan. If this idiot would actually open up the offense and allow players to use their strengths we would be a dangerous team.

I'm not blaming Torts completely for Kreider's play, or lack thereof. He is responsible to an extent, but Kreider was not doing himself any favors either.

He's doing well in the AHL, if he finds his game then next year regardless of how Torts handles his ice time he should find a way to make it work well enough to prove he belongs in the NHL. Management won't let Torts manhandle this kid forever. They know he is a future NHL impact player.

He should be here this year. He has found his game that i've seen. The rangers can really use him especially in the playoffs when you need scoring

Torts ego also wont let him play. We all know he loves miller but i would take kreider over miller in a second. Never been a fan of miller his is a turnover machine and cant shoot but Torts sllows him to play even when he makes a ton of mistakes

Torts can still play Boyle on the 4th line.

Hagelin-Stepan-Nash
Kreider-Richards-Gaborik

I normally don't have many bad things to say about how the Rangers handle their young talent since Torts came into play here.

McDonagh and Stepan were handled very well. Hagelin too. Del Zotto as well. Really, their track record is quite good. However I did (and still do) think Zuccarello was mismanaged.

But I really think that Miller and Kreider are being incredibly mishandled. I remember well. In the moment when the aforementioned prospects were being used I generally agreed with management. I thought Del Zotto needed time in CT, and he got it. Starting McD in CT was also great, Hagelin as well. All these players were given their shot to prove they belonged, and they seized it.

With Miller and Kreider though, I feel as if the opposite is happening. Miller came up and was quite effective in his first few games, but his overall game has fallen off a cliff. Meanwhile, Kreider has taken his 'demotion' like a pro and is ripping up the AHL (6 goals in 8 games since being sent down) with no end in sight to his tenure down there. Miller is struggling, and Kreider is excelling.

It's a crime at this point that Kreider isn't with the Rangers.

EDIT - Just read Brooksie's article today. He nails it:

http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/range...ref_map=%5B%5D

Quote:
If Gaborik were put in position to fail — and has acted as co-conspirator in his own demise — the same essentially is true regarding Chris Kreider. But this is one you could see coming pretty much from last year’s breakup day that followed elimination by the Devils.

The coach revels in tough love, and Kreider did aid and abet his own earlier failure with nondescript play. The difference in tone, however, between Tortorella’s public expressions of skepticism toward Kreider and his boundless support of J.T. Miller has been striking.

The big club has a crying need for Kreider’s offensive punch and speed, but a recall from the AHL Whale, for whom the winger has scored six goals in eight games since his Feb. 28 demotion, only makes sense if Tortorella allows the kid to breathe and play without fear of benching or banishment with every mistake.

A recall only makes sense if Kreider slots into an offensive role that includes power-play time. Everyone on this team has been allowed to fail ... everyone except Kreider, for the most part. But there are certain players — and this is going to raise the coach’s hackles, but Sean Avery is the best example of this — who just cannot earn Tortorella’s trust.

I think what ppl fail to understand is that Torts, for the most part, REWARDS people for taking action, for being aggressive for "Trying to make a play".

Miller tries, and fails..but he doesn't give up, he keeps trying, and I personally believe that Torts wants him to keep trying, but to also learn from his mistakes and continue to get better.

The difference between Miller and Kreider has been startling...Kreider wasn't TRYING to make anything happen...he was just a body. Miller has made efforts...has he had lots of turnovers and bad plays? Yes. He's a kid, you should EXPECT that...but he's trying, he's got balls, and I think Torts likes that. When Kreider forces the issue, when he starts playing more like Miller, his talent will eventually win out. I haven't seen his games in Hartford, but I'd like to think he's learning that making a play, and waiting for a play, are 2 very different things. Unless you are Marian Gaborik with 40+ goal pedigree, waiting for the play ain't gonna cut it.

Absolutely agree with your points. Miller keeps moving forward, doesn't hesitate to take the shot and generally keeps his feet moving. Kreider had brain freeze constantly when he was playing with the Rangers. I also don't buy the story that Kreider was so afraid of getting benched that he couldn't play his game. Professional hockey players can't live in fear of anything--getting hit, getting injured by a rut in the ice, etc. They have to go out every shift and keep their feet moving and play hard. Miller's done that, Kreider hasn't.

Alot has changed since then. Miller is not close what he was the first few games. krieder is now healthy and playing like the player we know he can be. He has been very productive in hartford( 6 goals in 8 games)

I think the problem starts to appear when you use phrases like "When X starts playing like Y" then positive things will happen. I think that's a poor way to develop players. Miller is a work horse. That's his game. Same with Hagelin and Callahan. They make their living by outworking the other guy. Tortorella loves those players, and rightfully so, but using them as a cookie cutter for others is foolish.

Was Kreider playing great hockey? No he wasn't, and he deserved to be sent back to Hartford, but all of those times he was told to "watch Hagelin" was just utter stupidity, IMO. The Pens aren't bringing Beau Bennett along by telling him to watch Tyler Kennedy. They're letting him round out his game while developing his strengths.

Like Nash and Gaborik Kreider is a scorer. he isnt a defensive stopper or grinder as much as tortorella wants to turn him into that. Kreider's shot speed and size make him very valuable IF teh coach uses him right. Kreider would be great on the PP because he puts his body infront of the net and chips in the rebounds. he has been doing that in the AHL and has been hard to stop. You also need to put him with better linemates and he will be more productive. Im not a huge hockey guy but even I know how to use him more than Torts does

Haley down. Kreider going to slot in on the fourth line?

Waste.

(Not so) Bold prediction: Kreider plays against Florida. Is sent back down before Sunday's game with the Caps, where Asham is reinserted into the lineup.

Haley made ONE mistake last night. I thought he had looked decent, played better than Asham too.
