I liked them. But that might be just because I detest their blue and white unis so much

was just looking at some stats, hawks have 3 players in top 10 of takeaways in nhl(toews, hossa, kane) and frolik is right up there as well.

Frolik is most impressive IMO given the lack of icetime compared to rest

Cody Hodgson playing great for the Sabres. 24 points in 29 games while playing C getting first line minutes. Making Gillis look worse every day for making that move for Kassian. Makes me wonder if the Hawks were able to draft him instead of Beach. We'd have a second line centre with great offensive skill playing with Kane and Sharp right now. I know it's pie in the sky right now cuz were playing so well with what we have. The only knock on Hodgson is his D according to Nuck fans and that he was a distraction always whining for more ice time, but it would have been nice to see how it would have played out considering Beach will probably never see time with the big club.

I would want to hear more about Hodgsons D from the Sabres fans... and as long as he keeps up this scoring pace and contributes on the PP, you don't really need more than average at best D

I remember thinking at the time the Hodgson deal was a bad one...and it's increasingly looking like that today.

On the Canucks board, some of the posts insisting that Hodgson/Kassian was a fantastic exchange are pretty funny.

Wasn't there internal issues with Hodgson in Vancouver? Gillis alluded to it after last season ended I recall. I think it was one of those deals they kind of had to make.

yeah, he was whining non-stop about his ice time. although i think the relationship between player/team was also soured by vigneault being his usual d-bag self.

It dates back to Hodgsons back injury. He didn't feel he was cared for properly and blamed Canucks management and training staff for it. At least I believe that's what caused the problems to start.

he was getting ****ed over with his ice time though. He's near a PPG player this season and he was getting borderline third line minutes last year while kesler struggled all year.

I don't like players whining. But the fan base at that time wondered why Hodgson was int he doghouse. Then he gets traded and the GM flamed him a bit. He was perhaps mishandled by the organization as he was a good player there and now I'd getting even better. AV is not the genius he thinks he is.

That franchise got ran into the ground IMO. Signing bums like garrison, trading for a guy like kassian who looks like he MIGHT develop into a 3rd liner, trading for booth, and then pretending like edler was the next lidstrom. Not to mention the goalie debacle.

It was more than just that...the Canucks initially misdiagnosed Hodgson's injury...and then Vigneault said Hodgson was using the injury as an excuse for not making the team.

Yep. I don't think he
was being a prima Donna. More like AV does not know how to handle players as well as he thinks. Or trying to send a message. But trading him for Kassian.....a coup for Sabres.

I thought that this was interesting...from Elliotte Friedman's 30 Thoughts

24. The toughest thing about watching Pavel Datsyuk toy with Edmonton and Vancouver is that we may be coming to the end of it. He has one more year under contract and there is a feeling he enjoyed playing in Russia so much he will go back for good afterwards. Talk about a casualty of the lockout.

Florida has 16 losses, too...but in one fewer game.
