Why do we need more tweeners like Raymond and Higgins? If we want to contend we need someone BETTER than Raymond and Higgins for our top 6. Our lack of playoff scoring is what has held us back and more of the same won't do us any good.

Bolded would be good fits IMO. Some of those guys are too far into reclamation project territory, and some are just more Higgins/Hansen clones.

I think you can add Jim O'Brien to that 4th line mix too. Can't chip in TOO much but I see him being a good fit.

IMO, Brassard would be a very good low value pick-up.

If the guy every turns around and shows the promise he had as a high draft pick/rookie, he'd be worth it.

Also, who knows when Kesler will come back and how healthy he is.

Compared to acquiring other similar type players, I'd imagine Brassard would have a lower return.

For a right handed d-man, Weaver probably interests me the most since he has chemistry with Garrison.
His low cap hit for this season and next season isn't bad either.

If we could get both Weaver and O'Byrne while shipping out Ballard and Alberts, I wouldn't complain, but I would also like to get a PP QB.

It's a shame Visnovsky's cap hit is monstrous, he would be a good fit with Garrison/Edler. Mark Streit is also an option but I see him re-signing as per reports suggest.

Visnovsky's cap hit is only for one year, though. We could acquire him relatively cheap as a pure rental, and depending how it goes, maybe re-sign him to a cheaper contract after this season, or simply let him walk.

Better ask AV first. He might think Alberts is better than Weaver and/or O'Byrne.

Visnovsky's cap hit wouldn't be a problem since Ballard would likely be moved + Malhotra on IR.
The problem with acquiring Visnovsky is that it was recently reported that the Isles want to keep him and re-sign him.

And Mark Streit would likely cost more than he is worth to acquire.

What are the odds Higgins and Raymond resign? I doubt it, especially Raymond. Higgins make take 2M to stay, but hed easily get 2.75-3M on the market, while Raymond could prob get from 3-4M on the market. Theyre gonna be a ton of teams like PHX, NYI, CBJ,NSH, FLA having quite bit of cap space going into FA and Raymond is one of the better wingers in this years FA pool(Semin, Perry, Horton) would prob be the only better wingers if they hit FA, as I see Clarkson, Teemu, Iggy resigning most likely

I think it's guaranteed that Raymond will walk. He will get offered $3.5-4 mil on the open market, and the Canucks cant afford that.
I have no problem with moving him in a deal to get an upgrade at the deadline.

Higgins, on the other hand, could probably be re-signed for $2.25-2.5 mil per year, which we can afford.
I'd love to keep him around, he's a good 3rd liner to have.

Clarkson could come for about 3.5-4.5M if Iggy, Horton, Perry, Semin all hit the Market..

None of that grass is greener then our grass. We would deal for one of these kind of guys and the same old complaints would seep in after awhile.

With Booth potentially being gone for the year if we place him and Malhotra on the LTIR we'd have 6.5 million in cap space from those two players alone. I could see Roy and Morrow being the two player MG targets.

Do not want either of them. Dallas fans have said Morrow is garbage now and want to get rid of him and Roy is too small, i rather have Stafford and Ott from BUF.

Mike Smith is due for a raise next year and Phoenix wont be able to sign him for less then what Schnieder is making.

We could trade Schnieder and _______ for Radim Verbata and Antoine Vermette.

They can ride Cory's bridge contract and we get two cheap good roster players that would fit our system to a tee.

Plus, Cory would have the best goaltender stats in the league if he played on that team.

Morrow would be brought in for a bottom 6 role. I doubt the Sabres move Ott. Roy adds a dimension of offense that Ott wouldn't bring either. Roy seems like a good fir aside from his bad FO &

Stafford sucks.

People around here hate Dave Booth, well Stafford is essentially the same player, but doesn't take the puck to the crease or finish checks.

DO NOT WANT.

I would want Jagr much more than Morrow from Dallas.
Morrow is strictly a bottom 6 forward now.

If it was that price I think I'd do it for Vermette. But I don't think PHX would be willing to let him go for that little, plus there would be all the bidding going on for centers...

Can't belive Vermette was only traded for a second last year. Would have much rather targeted him than Pahlsson. To be fair the Jackets would probably want more than a 2 nd from us seeing as at the time we were a favorite at the cup and the Yotes were a fringe playoff team.
