Given how much Wolski has been scratched, I don't know if you can necessarily say that (assuming Wolski had still been signed, even).

I mean, if they still bring in Fehr they could have 4 everyday top-6 wingers if they wanted to ignore handedness and use them as such. But Oates hasn't been going with the obvious solutions lately so who knows how it would have played out.

I don't think it's true. I think Brouwer likely gets bumped out of the top-6 if Semin were brought back.

I bet we'd see Ovie at 1RW, Semin at 2RW, Brouwer at 3RW, and Ward at 4RW.

It's McPhee's fault for bringing in someone who has a very, very strong preference of not playing wingers on their off-wing and then not addressing the lack of depth of LH LWs.

We are singing the same song, just in different pitches. I am with you.

Just another McFailed roster blunder. Keep removing talent from the roster and don't replenish. That's workin well George...keep it up.

Did the Brooks Laich conversion to center end? While he is a good fit LW for Ribs for faceoffs, I bet he still considers himself a center. We were sold it just last year.

Ovi took Semin's spot. MJ and Wolski have taken Ovi's spot, Inconsistent and injured, the grinders have all moved up.

Our gaping holes: top tier scoring LW and all situation LD, followed by a vet G.

Yeah I'm not so sure about the general assumption that Laich will just slot in as Ovechkin's left winger. Honestly the way Oates has handled lines this year I wouldn't necessarily put any money on that. I think it is just as likely that he sees him as a centerman and likes the idea of going Backstrom, Ribeiro, Laich, Beagle down the middle.

Which is actually not that bad in itself.

X-Backstrom-Ovechkin
Chimera-Ribeiro-Ward
X-Laich-Brouwer

MJ to 1st
Fehr to 3rd

Hendricks-Beagle-Crabb

$-RW-heavy anyway

MJ/OV line will be tough to watch in our own zone as any line with them
Ribeiro is shielded
MP isn't on the ice

could work for some coinflip hunterhockey

So the conventional thought process coming into the season was teams needed 54 points or so to make the playoffs. (92 in 82games, 54 in 48games)

By that logic, Caps would need 31 points in their last 21 games. Do we really see this flawed team doing that?

13-3-5 would get 31pts. Think about that.

This team can only lose 3 or so more games this year in regulation to make the playoffs. If its 55 or 56 points to get there, then that becomes even harder.

Season is over guys.

Didnt watch a second of the game, just saw the score.

TED: You've lost me, I'm over this team, and you. Its unwatchable. Great job, you need to be proud of how poorly you've screwed this up.

Go Terps!!! Fire George!

I am going to have to double down on my Terps. Mitchell reminds of Kevin Mitchell (MLB fame and stocky frame)

No goon tonight and we had our tail between our legs early. Good one George!

No sarcasm, Ribs our best player having to fight little punks, its your ticket out.

I am surprised the Caps only have one loser point. I guess thats what happens with George builds a team. When you lose, you lose well?

We are out of it, and we cant even tank well. Buffalo just leap frogged us for MacKinnin

Excellent!

Was wondering the same, but haven't seen anything yet. My guess is:

Alzner - Oleksy
Schultz - Carlson
Hillen - Orlov (Hillen started the season at LD)

Kundtratek to IR, so you'd assume that means Orlov plays on the right side to start. Unless they'd move Hillen over?

Ours I hope, but after watching the video of Sergei Kostitsyn, one never knows about these Ruskies.

I knew as I was typing that that it was worded just vaguely enough to invite a joke of some sort. Well done.

Glad to get Orlov up and out of Hershey. Hillen played RD to start the year.

Is it just me, or does Poti get injured every game, yet we never actually see him getting injured during the game? I think an injury like Erskine's may have been from a previous game, and he gives it a go and backs out early in the first. I am not sure why he was retained over Hammer, to be honest. Say what you want about Hammer, at least he wasn't as fragile. At least retaining him we get to see the kids come up weekly now.

I thought this Poti injury was from the Ott crosscheck into the boards?

Thank God for our tremendous D-man depth, or we'd be in a world of hurt right now. We probably wouldnt be holding onto this 3rd spot, and the SouthEast lead. Without this awesome depth, we may even be on the outside looking in for a playoff slot. Man, I am so happy that George addressed that during the off-season, or we'd be in like 13th or something

The depth on D is actually quite good, and it's not the reason the Caps are terrible. The reason (on D) that the Caps are terrible is that there are really only two top 4 defensemen (3 if you count Green), and 7 bottom pair/depth defensemen. Without that depth, they'd be icing the entire Bears defense (as it is, 4 Hershey Bears are currently recalled).

The real reason the Caps are where they are now is that they underperformed by 5ish points during the "adjustment to the system" period, and weren't that good to begin with (and yes, fire George).
