If he continues to improve and stay healthy, he could be a HUGE boost to the prospect pool at forward. We need more skill guys in the farm, especially with Butler gone and Tedenby/Josefson no longer looking like top-6 forwards.

Michigan needs two more wins for a miracle postseason berth (looks like they get Miami of Ohio in the semifinals). It'd be a fun weekend to be in the Detroit area next weekend. The last ever CCHA tournament wraps up at Joe Louis and Sarnia/Plymouth up the road.

Kind of want Sarnia and Swift Current to get bumped out in the first round so we can see Scarlett and Boucher in the AHL this year.

Also I'm curious to see if Thomson and Black will make the jump to the AHL next year or stay for their overage season.

I kinda hope Johnson, Thomson and Black stay in juniors at least one more season. They'll all likely get much more minutes there than a crowded Albany team. I think we can assume Boucher's gonna be in Albany next year though.

Speaking of Albany, out of all our NCAA prospects, who's going pro next year? Helgeson's the only senior.

I would want them to play in the ECHL even if it is only slightly more competitive than the CHL. They learn from professionals at least.

Also, I believe Ben Johnson is only 18 years old, unless you mean someone else?

Edit: wtf...

That's incredible. He is not playing sheltered minutes or anything either, he is eating up the tough minutes and still coming out that far ahead.

Coleman has been a healthy scratch the last 2 games according to Miami's twitter feed.

Remember that Graham Black was drafted as a 19 year old last year and not an 18 year old. He turned 20 this past January so I am not sure he can go back to the WHL.

Happy that we picked up another solid defensemen in Severson. Werid how after Larsson without really high picks Lou and co. have stockpiled a whole bunch of good D prospects.

It'd be partially up to Swift Current (or another WHL team) if they wanted Black to occupy one of their three overage spots. He wasn't drafted, but Reid Boucher's linemate Charles Sauralt played this year in the OHL and turned 21 last month.

Trying to think of somebody off the top of my head, but I think there were a few drafted players who stayed as an overager this year because teams didn't have room in the AHL due to the lockout. (Just found one: Carolina 2010 pick Austin Levi stayed in the OHL this year).

I've known Ben all of my life, I went to high school with him, played hockey with him, he grew up a street away from me. And I absolutely can not believe what I'm hearing, he is not the type of person to do this. I haven't talked to him since last summer, but I have no idea what went wrong, does playing junior hockey really change you that much?

After the Steubenville case, there's not much I doubt any more about how a sport/macho culture can influence young people. But again, there's not much use in asking questions like that until we know what happened for sure. For his sake, hopefully it's some sort of misunderstanding.
