I thought so because before Pittsburgh signed Mark Eaton earlier in the season they had him on a PTO at the Wilkes/Barre-Scranton Penguins. I wouldn't be surprised to see him get some air miles in the coming week or two.

As a Pens fan, I sure hope the good vibes from camp translates, but realistically, if he wanted a road to the NHL he cannot go many places where the waiting list is longer.
Delectable?

First time I've heard that word used to describe a prospect. Pierre, is that you?

Would love to see Detroit get this guy along with Danny DeKeyser, Detroit would have a solid Defensive core going forward for years to come. If not Detroit I would'nt mind seeing Tampa Bay getting either one also.

If he's smart he'll sign with a team that will develop him properly, instead of opting to sign with the team that will give him NHL icetime right away.

Doubt it will be the case though.

Doubt the Leafs would be interested due to the logjam on D.

Looks like he'll be a player. Why is DeKeyser so much better?

Sustr definitely impressed me from what I saw at the Pens camp. I would definitely sign this kid. A lot of upside.

Brown wanted NHL playing time last year.

Flyers wouldn't give it to him, mostly because of their talent up front.

The Flyers have a need for a dman like Sustr and he could definitely vie for a spot now over the Gervais and Fosters of the world (if he wants to play this year).

The Flyers have been one of the most active teams in terms of the NCAA free agent market.

Flyers >>>>>>>>> Pens (NCAA FA)

edit: Not saying the Flyers will get him, but I'd put money down that you hear the Flyers name come up. Flyers G prospect Anthony Stolarz played a little bit at UNO so I'm sure the Flyers saw Sustr play in person.

Ok ease up Flyers homer, JT Brown got all of 5 games with the Lightning, he has been in the AHL this whole year. Seems pointless to burn that 1st year, but whatever, it seems to be the norm these days.

As for Pens NCAA FA's, Shero tries to sign them, but does not guarantee a spot on the team that isn't earned and that's how it should be done, have an impressive group that are in the NCAA ranks anyway. Also, if a College FA picks a team these days, it's likely because he sees weaknesses in the line-up and feels he could negotiate better with them to fast track his career faster. Not really sure if that's a good or bad thing. How many of these FA's are going to legit contenders these days? Not many. For a good reason, $$ talks, opportunities they think they are getting, don't lead them anymore. Bobby Butler is on what, team #3 already? That kid was highly touted as a free agent. I don't know about these kids but earning a decent amount of money for my 1st year to play in the AHL so I can be a better player and be someone you can count on and in turn, earn more as well...that'd be my goal. Not "I want to be in the NHL now, mommy said I could ok, I want it now! NOW!" is how I see these kids.

With that said, Lovejoy and Letestu are NHL regulars and were College FA's. The rest the Pens have signed are projects and the Pens aren't the type of team to rush prospects anyway, whether drafted, traded for or signed.

Sustr seems like a guy that wants to fast track his career, he said all the right things about needing the AHL, a year or two, last year, but then suddenly elects to leave college, maybe he still knows he needs more time in the AHL.

Also, if a College FA picks a different team, it's likely because he sees weaknesses in the line-up and feels he could negotiate better with them to fast track his career faster. Not really sure if that's a good or bad thing.

"The Flyers have already begun courting Univ. of Nebraska-Omaha defenseman Andrej Sustr, who officially announced on Monday that he will not be returning to school for his senior season. He’s a player the Flyers have kept their eye on for years."

DeKeyser is just a more polished player, and is probably NHL ready.

I don't think there is any doubt that Šustr has the higher upside, he is just further out from hitting his upside at this point. I wouldn't say he is NHL ready just now, I don't think he is far away but he needs at least half a season there IMO.

So I should be even more optimistic that Josh Archibald has been his team mate for the past 2yrs and he was at the Pens camp recently?

For years, but never invited him to camp? Makes sense.

Where are you getting that information from? Basically every site lists him as 200lbs.

Start of the season Šustr was around 225lbs (UNO website also says this). Gained a little since then apparently.

Hope Regier is talking to him/his agent. Would be awesome to have 2 massive defenders like that.

Matta, Harrington, Dumoulin, Morrow, Pouliott ... I think Pittsburgh has enough blueliners for the future. The Pens will survive if he goes elsewhere. It's not like Shero needs to add him to help the intramural hoops team.

Seriously, college free agents have been more bust then boom. For every Chris Kunitz, there is a Bobby Butler, or a Dwight Mathiasen. Time will tell of this kid amounts to something.

This kid is 6-8 and everyone is intrigued thinking the next Chara. If he was 6-2, no one probably would take notice.
