NJ prospect Ben Johnson was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 16 year old this weekend. He plays for Windsor in the OHL.

Edit: He was charged with 2 counts of sexual assault on two different women on different ocassions one was 16 the other was 20. Johnson himself is 18 years old.

@TSNBobMcKenzie
After last night's terrible line change, NSH forward Sergei Kostitsyn is expected to be a healthy scratch Tuesday vs CBJ.

Waiting for Kevin Weekes to report some "good news for Ducks fans" on NHL tonight.

Only one thing I can think of here.

Corry Perry is going to resign soon. Official by the end of the night.

This is why you build your team in the draft, and shrewd trades. Not in free agency.

Ducks just announced it.

http://ducks.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=660913

Quote:
The Ducks have agreed to terms with right wing Corey Perry on an eight-year contract extension. Perry, a 2007 Stanley Cup champion and 2010 Olympic gold medalist, is now under contract with the Ducks through the 2020-21 NHL season. Per club policy, no financial terms of the deal were disclosed.

“We are excited that Corey has committed to us for the next eight years,” said Ducks Executive Vice President/General Manager Bob Murray. “Similar to the case with Ryan Getzlaf, Corey wanted to stay in Anaheim and be part of our organization long term. He is an exceptional player who competes with heart and soul and has won at every level.”
Good for them too. Budget team doing it the right way. Keeping all their talent.

Also, with Getzlaf and Perry's extension, what the **** was the point of the lockout? Why are these *******s such hypocrites?

I hate these posts.

That's not what the lockout was about, and it isn't what it was designed to stop.

Compare the Getzlaf / Perry deal to Suter / Parise. It was about artificially bringing down the AAV through 14 year deals, not ending big-money deals.

Maybe you're right, I overreact to these long contracts because to me 8 years is a huge amount of time to devote to someone. Also, bitter because I wanted Corey Perry

Whatever. I hope this deal handcuffs them so they have to let Ryan go.

Yeah Perry's a good player but not at that price. I'm kind of glad we won't get a chance to overpay him now.

That is an absurd number for Perry. He's getting Crosby money. I know one thing, Giroux's agent is looking at this right now and licking his chops about G's next deal, especially since he took a very team friendly deal as an RFA. Good thing the owners wanted to control spending coming out of the last lockout.

Wow, glad Perry didn't make it to FA where the Flyers would probably offer Perry a $10M/yr contract.

Yeah that's probably best for the team.

I dont like the amount they got (Especially cause Toews/Kane now have idea of what they could ask for)

But Getzlaf/Perry are the franchise there and with Selane/Koivu retiring and Hiller likely gone via trade soon enough (They have tremendous G depth thru organization) the Ducks can afford it

The Ducks couldn't afford to let either leave as they mean so much on the ice and off it

That gives the ducks 11 mil next season to resign 8 roster players by my math. Any chance they consider trading Bobby Ryan?

That's part of it, but there was a whole lot of crocodile tears from the owners about losing money. And doling out these big contracts – while I get your point – is hypocrisy. Do you believe that bringing the lockout to an end hinged on length of contracts, or was revenue sharing a bit more of a contentious issue?

Giroux's contract terrifies me. Any chance we get it below 7?

Whoa, looks like Carter finally got his 3rd assist tonight. What, did he accidentally blast the puck into the net off a teammates face?

18 goals...3 assists.

He only gets assists in blowouts.

I doubt it, but I don't think he was going to be resigned that low before (Zajac got 5.75 after all).

However, Giroux is RFA, whereas Perry and Getzlaf are UFA.
