Just started watching the Wild - Canucks game. Within the first few mins, you could tell Brodin is extremely talented, he doesn't look like a rookie out there. The next OEL?

Yes the Leafs have other problems, no one ever said otherwise.

You essentially attacked a position that no one ever took. Kinda weird.

Ducks re-sign Perry. Looks like we'll have to target someone else...

Ryan will be available after this deal, they cant sign both getzlaf and perry for that and manage to keep Ryan all while working on a small internal budget

I was obviously talking about his play and it's effect on the team, not that he is the main reason they are struggling.

I'm going to straight out say that even if the dreamer in me is disappointed that Perry is back with Anaheim, a part of me can't help but feeling relieved that he's staying in the West. The latest rumours of him coming closer to Ontario freaked me out a little.

Gomez got another assist tonight.
I am glad he is gone and that he seems to gain back his confidence.
Now 6 points in 6 games (also -6 in those games).

I just don't see it for them this season. Their bottom-6 has lost a lot of character, their D has been less extraordinary this season, and they lack a lot of grit.

Same here.

This could mean Bobby Ryan is available via trade though, so there's another fantasy to dream about.

So.....what other forwards are UFA?

Good for the ducks, it will interesting to see where they find the cap room in the future. Then again Saku and Teemu may not play much longer.

Pierre LeBrun ‏@Real_ESPNLeBrun
Perry agrees to eight-year, $69 M deal with Anaheim; $8.625 M AAV

Wow, more than Getzlaf.

Clarkson is, and he'd be a perfect fit. But I don't think the Devils will let him hit the open market.

Then there's Iginla, Semin, Elias & Horton. Like Clarkson, I doubt Horton makes it to UFA.

Rest of list: http://www.capgeek.com/free-agents

They are still in decent shape, despite the last two signings. About $12M left in space with 17 players signed IIRC. I agree though, that's a lot of money for Perry. I guess Murray really wanted to lock down his big two before the deadline.

People who think Bergevin will give anything of value for a rental are not realistic. He said it numerous times. He'll only make hockey deals, or deals getting him players he can count on for several seasons. So you guys can forget about Iginla. Just like getting Perry before this summer was a pure fantasy.

People have to understand also that success or not, short season or not, this season was an evaluation season for the management, and it still is. They have to keep that mindset, evaluate what they have in place, and then put a real stamp on this team this summer and going forward. Let's build this core via the draft, and then complete with the UFA market.

Yeah Clarkson is a rare breed. Obviously nowhere near Perry in talent, but he has the toughness and scoring touch to really be a difference maker. You're right though, you know the Devils won't let him slip away.

Thank God the Perry proposals will all stop now. Clowe is the target now realistically. Fits what we need and in our budget.

Look at Boston's cap for next year, I am pretty convinced he will be a UFA. They have almost no room once they re-sign Rask for 5 M + per (which he will get if his agent is competent since he's a year away from UFA)

That said, Horton's concussion history is a big red flag.

The market kinda blow now..

http://capgeek.com/ufa-finder/

Iginla or Clarkson to replace Ryder... but you can bet both will re-up with their team.

Morrow to be on the bottom 6. He is their captain,so most likely to stay put as well.

Depends.

They have $12M left to sign 6-7 more players. So he might stick for now.
