It's gotta be Boston, it won't though cause they are both too good, ideally it would be Toronto in 1st round, Philly in the second then Boston in conference final....top it off with a Canadiens Blackhawks final, that would be historic, cause you know if we face weak teams the critics and media will say it was easy for us cause of weak opponents
Though they aren't as good as last year, the Rangers aren't a team I want to face in the first round. They have high-end talent with Gaborik, Richards and Nash and though they lost a lot of two-way ability in losing Anisimov, Prust and Dubinsky...the combo of Lundqvist plus a healthy Staal, Girardi and McDonagh scares me.
Rangers are a team that can easily be under-estimated.
Teams I don't want to face are Sens and Pens. Pens for obvious reason...sens because they always have the Habs number for some reason.
They are a grindfest team and Gaborik doesn't scare me at all in the playoffs. Two way players are critical in staving off lower line production.
I honestly don't know where our weakness lies - I have no idea of our strengths, we look really good but it could be a rosy impression. I guess I'd like to play a team with not-so-great special teams as we take a lot of penalties and our PP isn't as lethal as it could be.
Winnipeg. The atmosphere in both buildings would be amazing, and it's a playoff matchup that probably won't ever happen again because of realignment. Also, it might be an easier matchup, as Montreal fares well against them historically (even last year, when the Habs sucked) and they might just happy to have made it (see 2007 Thrashers and 2009 Blue Jackets)
Definitely not Boston, at least until a later round (though, barring a spectacular tailspin by either team, chances are they'll be first and Montreal will be fourth, or vice versa). I don't particularly want to face the Rangers, as they're talented (if top-heavy) and have a great goaltender.
I don't give a crap about 'payback' against any particular team, I just want to win. Let Boston play Toronto in the first round and bang each other up. Let their Island Of Misfit Fans slobber over every bell answered, code followed, moral victory fought and strong hockey play made, and then let them pull out the Excuse Thesaurus in search of lame reasons why their big tough team lost to us in the next round.
This team would drop the Bruins as long as they keep a cool head. Let Circus Claude do this thing to the media and those clowns run around. The team would win, I'm convinced of it.
The Leafs would be an insanely fun series and could take it to six or seven but their defence is nowhere near the Habs and they are not even a lock to make it with their current play and whack goaltenders.
Winnipeg would be ideal. Stay away away away from the Rangers
