They also got rid of JVR and Bobrovsky last year so I think he's becoming more and more irrational and impatient as time goes on without a Cup. The Flyers thought they could use their money to get whoever they want and that really backfired on them when Suter turned them down and Nashville met the deal on Weber. By the point Carle wasn't willing to wait around anymore so they'd lost plans A, B, and C
And with the cap coming down, they won't be able throw the type of money around like they've been use to.

Anyone think that hit on Malone was a blindside hit?

The Flyers are a mess right now. So many mistakes as that clock ticks down.

Philly lost again in regulation.....That just made their numbers even worse.

They also have Pitt and NYR next two games.... If they post Zero points, their season is over.

That would put them with 18 regulation losses. They would have to not lose more than three more.

Philly really needs to post three of Four points in these next two to save their season.

They have Five days off, to regroup and practice hard. (WTF how does a team get Five days off?)

You just use your stats.

Of course when everything is said and done, they have just been lucky. What they have done in prior seasons was also a response on somebody who claimed they were just hype. Looked obvious to me.
Another loss, when is this magical run going to start, because it's getting close to the time where they have to win all their remaining games.

Some Kings fans on here didn't believe the Ducks would be able to do this, but I told them so that the Ducks have plenty of space to get Perry signed to a similar deal as Getzlaf signed for (which is what they did previously as well). I figure now the Ducks may shop Bobby Ryan.

I like the idea of having a nearby rival that is actually good so that it will mean more when we beat them and we may play them in the playoffs. Will be better for hockey here. Kind of glad they kept them both.

The Sharks are falling apart. I'm expecting some major moves there.

Good for the Ducks. Teams who draft well should be rewarded and able to keep their players.

The Ducks will be a quality team for a long time, so will the Kings. Should be fun for the rivalry.

Sharks were way way to loyal to their older core. They will still be able to get something for Boyle at the deadline, but they should have moved Marleau years ago and the return would have been great. Same with Boyle and Thornton.

Pavelski is 29 this year and up for a new contract after next season, he could be moved for younger pieces.

I agree. Should be interesting to see what they do with Ryan now.

Just looked at the Sharks roster situation. Pretty poorly managed.

Handzus has a full NMC, wow just wow. I remember being in this situation with a fringe NHL'er in Smyth having a NMC.

Boyle has a NTC, but it ends right after the draft, wonder if he would agree to go the deadline.

That's why you don't tie up 18m up in four average defensemen and 10 more in goaltending. If you're gonna pay those prices, quality over quantity is the way you have to go. Then they're about to have 4.5 tied up in a linemate (that's all Burrows is) and have 4.25 for Booth. Minimal secondary scoring, terrible cap management. Should have kept Ehrhoff and Hodgson too.

It will be easy for ownership to figure out who ran that ship into the ground.

Oh and it couldn't have happened to a more deserving team. I truly hope they miss the playoffs, which they are quickly headed down that route. If they lose tonight, they would only have 5 wins in their last 16 games. Yikes.

I think a few people don't understand what the new CBA has done. We need to consider ourselves lucky that we have our core players signed for a few years under the old CBA. We get time for the cap to go back up before we have to sign our big guys.

I'd rather have Ryan anyway. Maybe Dean can do another sneaky Justin Williams-like 3-way trade.

We are alos lucky to have 2 players the calibre of Carter and Richards on contracts with friendly cap hits.

@AnaheimDucks

Teemu Selanne asked about the Perry/Getzlaf contracts: “If they can play 8 more years, then I can too. I’m in better shape than they are.”
