Gaustad to IR; Beck Called Up per Cooper

There's a lot of Preds chatter on Twitter that Taylor Beck is on his way to join the Predators from Milwaukee, which may result in him making his NHL debut, so Gaustad's move to IR may be to clear out that roster spot. That move has not been made official, however.

The Admirals Roundtable says that Beck is going to Nashville.

Still nothing official. I have checked the AHL transactions on both the AHL's website and the Admirals' website.

Yeah well the Bartley move wasn't official until he was on the ice at Centennial even though it was reported a day before. Doesn't mean it isn't true.

Weird thread is weird.

I'd be perfectly happy if Gaustad never saw the ice here again, same for Gill, Hannan and all the other pylons wasting roster spots our youngins could be utilizing for experience.

Season is over, time to tank.

I'm not even going to get excited. He's less of a "trotz player" than Boychuk.

He'll get garbage minutes with Clune and Yip, and then he'll go back to Milwaukee.

Yeah well we don't start threads for rumors without a source, and we don't say something is official until it's official.

With SK looking to be sat (or completely done) I'm not surprised. Wilson and Hornqvist are both out. Toss Beck up there and see how it goes.

Boychuk started out with Fisher and Hornqvist. It lasted all of about two shifts.

That was also the game where Hornqvist got hurt.

Beck is bigger and more physical than both Boychuk and Butler and IMHO is more a Trotz guy than any winger on our roster right now.

In the camps I've seen him in he was a gritty guy that crashed the net hard. Is this not how he played in Milwaukee?

Glad to see he's getting a shot, will be watching him.
Heard he's done pretty well up there.

It's the lack of a defensive game and attempts at "cute" plays that I think will inhibit him with Trotz, but maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I agree. Most of the time, Beck doesn't try to get cute. I would like to see him go to the net more directly. He is so far up the ice, that defense isn't much of an option. He is more of an assist guy than a goal scorer at the moment.

Last night I was unimpressed with Beck. He seemed like he couldn't hold his own, he was owned by the Columbus players.

It was his first game. However, he really doesn't have the tools for the NHL level. He's a career AHLer.
