Tyler Toffoli looked good for the Kings tonight.

Mike Smith also looked horrid.

Toffoli is a pure goal scorer. One-shot scorer. I almost forget what those look like.

Crap like this just makes me appreciate the Sedins more and more each day.

It's going to continue. The stars will get paid and have cap hits to match now that there's no way to bring down the cap hit. You'll see best players raking it in while mediocre players will stop getting overpaid.

The thing is, I think this actually better represents the value that these players deliver. We're lucky we don't have any young star players coming up for a new contract or even Gillis and Gilman wouldn't be able to work their magic.

I am just crossing my fingers and hoping Kassian and Jensen never become prolific scorers. Would hate to see them cash-in.

If star players are going to be making $8mil it just makes Luongo's contract look that much better. Hopefully other GM's see it this way too.

What I meant is that we have Sedins as our stars who are older (would only sign together so that's double the commitment) and aren't going to be as insistent on getting the top dollar. If Kesler were coming up for a contract now, we would be looking at paying him a lot more than $5m.

Yeah we are SO lucky to have zero young stars in our organization. Im Jk I know what you're saying but still... no young stars!

It doesn't even matter. They can lose their next 10 games and it wouldn't hurt them.

money puck might actually work if this happens because quality mid-tier players are going to be cheaper and provide more bang for the buck. You can build a

forwards lines

Top Heavy: $25m/$10m/$5m / $2m
Vs
Depth: 15/15/8/4

Here's Crosby's contract:

2013-14 $12,000,000
2014-15 $12,000,000
2015-16 $12,000,000
2016-17 $10,900,000
2017-18 $10,900,000
2018-19 $10,000,000
2019-20 $9,000,000
2020-21 $9,600,000
2021-22 $9,000,000
2022-23 $3,000,000
2023-24 $3,000,000
2024-25 $3,000,000

Cap hit 8.7M

People need to understand that with backdiving contracts banned, cap hits will rise. Take out those 3M seasons that Crosby will never play out, Crosby's cap hit is 10.7M

So you can't really compare new contracts to those under old CBA.

goes both ways, those front loaded years were only made possible by the fake years. We don't know what the new equilibrium will be.

If Crosby got $11m and Malkin got $11m and Letang go $8m, that leaves $34 for the rest of the team. There are going to be some very shallow teams.

Some nice possession numbers by Buffalo's 1st line tonight. In terms of shots directed at the net they've generated 3 for and have allowed 21 against through 2 periods.

Sens were down 3-1, they win 5-3. What a team, great coach and great contributions from young players and veterans alike. Weircioch 3 assists, Silfverberg 1G, Benoit 1A and Gonchar 1G 2A.

Crazy.

And the Habs come from 0-2 to tie it up. Another great hardworking young team.
