You're right. It would be more accurate to call him a 1st line center.

A top 6 FORWARD? maybe not being all to kind, a top 6 Center as in OVERALL? too kind. I don't get it either way.

Center on one of the top 2 lines. Obviously not implied to be top 6 in the entire league.

would be pretty funny to see Ribeiro land with the Laffs...

he's about as close to the polar opposite of what Burke looks for in a player as you can find, bringing him in months after they can Burkee almost feels like an intentional parting shot.

Well, Ribeiro is tied for 4th in the league in scoring amongst centers. So he's a top 6 overall center in that regard.

I'm not a leafs fan (obviously). But, I think Toronto is on the right track to get better in the future and this ********* would be a backwards move imo....

To be fair it's usually top 6 forward not top 6 center.

We want to keep him, but if he doesnt want to resign its going to be pricey. TOR isnt the only team showing interest.

Gardiner or Biggs + conditional pick.

1st 2013 if Ribeiro resigns
1st 2014 if TOR makes the playoffs but Ribs dont resign
2nd 2013 if neither happens

Ross, 1st for Ribs, 3rd.
Ribs turned around in terms of personality. He really cares. His meltdown against the ref in that Isles game was a rare occasion when you care too much. He's a good leader and has shown ability to come up big in the clutch on numerous occasions.

I have a feeling for some reason he ends up in Toronto.

Then I hope the Caps just resign him in the off season.

And LOL at the Eakin comments. I am pretty sure Stars fans are quite pleased with him.

Great logic

"Hey Toronto, we have a player that doesn't want to re-sign with us so we'll trade him to you but it won't be cheap! And lets make this deal quick before he becomes a UFA and walks for nothing ok? I wouldn't want you to get him in the off-season and we end up getting nothing for him!"

If Toronto is the only team showing interest and he's a UFA that doesn't want to re-sign with you guys, guaranteed he'll come cheap.

Pretty sure things will heat up as the trade deadline gets closer....just like every other year.

Yea I admit I overvalue Ribs. However the value wont be low, there will be loads of interest in him. I think we dont have to settle for 2nd + "ok" prospect offers.

They paid 1st for Gaustad..

PS. have any of you guys throwing in lowball-offers for Ribeiro even seen him play this season? We are ranked 27th in the league and Ribs has 10+21 (12th in the league) and has also really shown character. He is not 2nd line center, he is 1B atleast. If you dont want to pay for him, my guess is that someone else will.

Forget the Leafs... Sources tell me Manchester United are very interested in signing Ribeiro, after seeing some of his "moves" he used to pull while playing for the Habs.

Ribeiro to Manchester United (E5)

2nd rounder in 2013 straight up is fair. Anyone who thinks a 1st rounder will be spent on a 33 year old centre that probably has two good seasons left is dreaming.
