Lorne Chabot served a penalty late in the 11-28-33 game vs the Maroons. Montreal played without a goalie substitute. http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=rRYvAAAAIBAJ&sjid=TqgFAAAAIBAJ&pg=63 45%2C3768045

The Ottawa Detroit game scheduled to be played in Ottawa on 2-10-34 was moved to Detroit and played on 2-11-34. I have treated this as a Detroit home game. Detroit won 3-0.

Alec Connell replaced the injured Roy Worters with 3 minutes to go in the 1st period of the 3-15-34 game vs Ottawa. The official NHL stats credit Worters with a full period.

Abbie Cox replaced the injured John Ross Roach early in the 2nd period of the 12-10-33 game vs the Maroons. His name is missing from the roster list for the game in every paper I've looked at though.

Doug Young replaced the injured John Ross Roach early in the 3rd period of the 12-14-33 game vs Chicago. The official NHL records credit him with 21 minutes.

This includes the moved Ottawa game mentioned above as a Detroit home game.

The Toronto Opponents splits make it look like Toronto had different teams playing at home and on the road.

Shore Bailey Incident

Shore Bailey incident December 12, 1933.

Boston had started slowly and then fell apart during Shore's suspension - 16 games. Did not make the playoffs.

Tiny Thompson seems to have sustained a quality performance throughout. How was Boston affected offensively and defensively by Shore's absence?

Boston was 6-7-0 up to the Bailey game, with 28 GF and 29 GA.

During Shore's suspension they went 4-9-3 with 29 GF and 45 GA. Two of their wins came against the Canadiens without Morenz, as I believe he missed almost all of January.

After Shore's return they went 8-9-2 with 54 GF and 56 GA.

Thank You

Thank you.

Expected that the Bruins struggled offensively and defensively without Shore. Offensively they bounced back when Shore returned but the defensive struggles continued, getting worse.

Road Ice Advantage?

Road teams go an incredible 10-3-2 in the playoffs. Only 2 goalies had home wins, and none of the 6 have a losing record on the road.

Found shot totals for all of the playoff games, so only need the one table this time.

The Maroons and Rangers played a 0-0 tie in the first of a two game total goal series.

The Canadiens and Hawks tie was 1-1 in the second game of their total goal series. It finished 1-0 Montreal after 60 minutes, but OT was needed as the series was tied at 3 goals each.

Very revealing. Two game total goal format changes the way the first game is played - objective becomes goal differential as opposed to winning.

Still this did not impact the SOG/60. Regular season to playoffs saw a drop of < .5 SOG/60.
