Pittsburgh is very interested, i hope I really really hope we land Sustr. Having Josh Archibald could be a HUGE factor. And playing with 87 and 71 for part, if not all of your career. Please Andrej, sign in Pittsburgh

I find your lack of Valabik disturbing.

Next Chara? Chara wasn't even the next Chara till he was 25+. Sustr ceiling is like a #4D if everything goes well.

Very contradictory post. I mean, if Chara wasn't Chara until 25+ how can you possibly predict the potential of Sustr? Chara looked like no more than a #4D at best at a similar age. I'm not saying Sustr will in fact be the next Chara, just playing devils advocate.

Worse yet, I didn't use it to describe him as a prospect... only his size...

You gotta excuse all Pens fans on such matters. We have Bob Errey going on and on about SIZE and LONG STICK... and everything unrelated... in every broadcast.

"Look at the length of his stick, Steigy. That's unreal! That's a man's stick, for sure. Wow. ... and there is Gary Roberts in the crowd, drinking the water Steigy, see?! It is the Fiji water, I tell you. That man takes care of himself. He is a hard man who played hard and takes care of himself. If I had been taking care of myself like that back then when I played with Mario, he would have had 10 more goals a year just banking them off of my rock hard ass! Man I am hungy!"

Would be nice to get to go along with some of our other D prospects. The more the merrier.

Really? He looks very mobile to me, even more so for his size.

Seriously, college free agents have been more bust then boom. For every Chris Kunitz, there is a Bobby Butler, or a Dwight Mathiasen. Time will tell of this kid amounts to something.

This kid is 6-8 and everyone is intrigued thinking the next Chara. If he was 6-2, no one probably would take notice.
It's not the fact we have players for the future. We need players to come in now/next year and I only see Morrow out of those probably having a chance of making it to the NHL next season. At the moment Orpik and Niskanen could be traded away to accomodate one of those players - as will likely be the case.

I see lots of "I hope our team signs him and plays him on a pair with X immediately."

That's making a big assumption that he's even NHL ready...

this. people have already mentioned players like Boris Valabik whose growths were stunted by jumping into the NHL too early.

let's be honest: NCAA hockey isn't near the pace of the NHL. if some team signs him to jump into an immediate NHL role, they're forcing him to make a decision: sink or swim.

Flyers should try everything they can to get this kid. If he has to play the rest of the season so be it. They aren't going to contend anyway.

The pens are loaded with defenseman. Although we don't have a guy with his size. Defense is the last position. If we signed him, there'd be a huge logjam and we will continue to lose guys like Strait and Lovejoy for nothing.

Shero sucks at signing free agents anyways.
Theres a reason you get nothing for players like this

Since everyone is pretty much putting their own teams situation I might as well throw in Montreal's.

Pros:
We definitely need a big player on the back end and we are short on RD so he fills a big need.
Montreal is one of the best teams in the league at developing prospects based on how many we have graduated to the NHL in the last ~10 years (not the best at holding on to them though).
We look to have a decent set up as far as winning in the short and long term.

Cons:
Lots of D prospects (though most on the left side), he may have to fight for call-ups.
Higher taxes.
We already have like 4 rookie D in the AHL so I don't know how taking on another would go.

Do you mean the guy who got a 3 year contract based on his play? Or the guy currently outpointing Brent Burns, Mark Giordano, John-Michael Liles, Braydon Coburn, and Tyler Myers who has been praised by his coach in the media a couple of times?

Buffalo.
Truckload of cash and plenty of open spots for a defensemen that can play hockey, at all.
