Malkin to pest role, confirmed.

Mark Eaton needs to piss off. Simon Despres, Deryk Engelland and Robert Bortuzzo should be playing. Mark Eaton should not be on the top-four.

Mark Eaton has been playing very solid defense thus far. He might be stay at home, but maybe that's what we need right now.

He shouldn't be top four but I think he's bringing more than Engelland and Bortuzzo.

Wondering if Cooke's absence isn't just a veteran/maintenance day type thing.

Remember he took a shot off the foot vs NYR. Some specualtion on the radio side if he might have missed Sunday vs BOS, but didn't.

Agree with others, rest 71 and 58 another few days, imagine Cooke will be in.

Robert Bortuzzo is a solid shutdown defenseman that has size, and he plays physical. Do you remember when Matt Niskanen was injured and Dan Bylsma paired Robert Bortuzzo with Deryk Engelland, they played very well together. Mark Eaton is a reliable #7 defenseman option, but I do not want him playing as a top-four defenseman (or playing over Deryk Engelland and Robert Bortuzzo). He has not been the greatest the past couple of games. I would rather see Robert Bortuzzo playing.

The Robert Bortuzzo and Deryk Engelland pairing played great the last time these two teams met (at home).

The more Despres is sat, the more I think he's being seriously shopped and they want to see how our defense looks like without him.

Even with the Caps sucking, these games are still always fun, especially when we win . 10 in row, lets go!

Couple random thoughts:

- I like how Eaton is playing... but how does it happen that a guy just immediately is given a spot over other guys who have also played well. It makes no sense to me. The guy couldn't even make a team and now is our top 4 because what he did in 09. Shero gave us depth, Bylsma turns it into ridiculousness.

- For as bad as our 2nd/3rd line were in Boston, Bylsma watches the tape and doesn't move Sutter up with Neal/Beau? I don't get it.

- I swear Cooke took a hit or a shot in the B's game where i said "Oh good... if he's hurt I'm not even mad." But I can't remember the exact play now. But LOL at Glass getting that duty. I just don't get Bylsma sometimes. We have great things going our way and he sees it completely different. And it's not like we are winning with those moves. The 2nd/3rd line were horrendous against Boston.

Funny. I never noticed Eaton. Who's he paired with?

He's hardly noticable.

Cole, you act like the inner workings of the Pens have provided you with the insight to make better line ups.

I think there's a leak somewhere. Or maybe someones sleeping with Maxim Talbot.

Really I think you're nieve if you think that Shero doesn't have any say in the lineup. After every game they rate and go over ever players performance.

I'd say Eaton playing is just as much sheros decision as it is bylsmas.

I think eaton's played very well, better than bortuzzo was, and more stable than despres.

I think coaches in the NHL coach their way and not the way the GM wants them to. Shero seems to be a more quiet guy who let's Bylsma have the reigns. I could be wrong.

And no.... Eaton has not been more stable than Despres. That is insane. Eaton has been good, but let's not go overboard here.

No one moves the puck better than Despres in the lineup. Other than Martin and Letang I'd pencil him in every game ahead of every other D man.

Just a heads up that Crosby has 6 points in 2 games against Washington this season and 22 points in his last 13 games against Washington.

Is there a website that has a players record against every team? ESPN only goes back a few years.

Despres has made a lot of mistakes this year... around the net eatons been better. The penguins wanted to get out of the high scoring games, eaton helps them do that more than despres.

And before you guys go off the deep end i'm not saying he's better, just more stable in the type of games they are looking to play right now. You know exactly what you're getting with Eaton... despres could be either way, from shift to shift.

If I had to pick a top 6, despres and eaton would be on it. Engwould be 7, Bort 8th.

Martin
Letang
Orpik
Nisk
Eaton
Despres

Thought i have to miss this one but i dont, that good news 'cause i believe Pens are 18-1-0 this season in the games i've seen I suppose they are rolling w/ 7D with Cookie out too, or is Malkin playing?

EDIT: Re: Despres & Eaton, i don't mind Eaton in the lineup, but he really should be bottom pairing guy, while Despres should be in top4 imo.

I've liked Eaton's play so far but I cannot fathom how you can watch Sunday's game and not think he needs a rest.

If Cooke is out I'd prefer us to double-shift Crosby than upgrade Glass.
