For the Youtube links, put only what comes after the = sign in the YT tags.

Ruutu status? IIRC this game was mentioned as a possibility for his return.

So it's been 176 minutes played since someone other than Eric Staal scored a goal for this team. Maybe someone should go ahead and change that?

Well apparently he's still not doing enough for some, but yes, someone else should score. But Eric needs to score 2 tonight while playing Selke caliber defense or I won't be impressed.

Hrm....big home game against divisional rival we almost never rise to the occasion against immediately after a hard-fought shootout loss?

I'd normally say 5-1, but since this is a divisional game...

10-1

Eric could be held off the scoresheet and I wouldn't care, so long as he (and the team) put forth a 60 minute effort. Getting tired of this 1 period bull.

assuming peters goes for this one. im feeling a win tonight. i think kirk has had enough of whatever they have been bringing the last few games. i.e. nothing after 20 minutes.

tlusty breaks out of his slump (he doesnt have a goal in, what, 5 games?) and someone from the 3rd/4th line scores. staal also gets one. 3-1 win.

If they lose it's one thing, but if they don't bring a much better and more complete effort tonight it may be time to line up the women and children near the life boats at least.

That was my complaint a while back about how they seemed to let off the gas in the 3rd. Seems to be happening in the 2nd now. Whether it is truly them letting off the gas or teams figuring out how to slow them down through the neutral zone, I can't say, but it was and is my 2nd biggest concern on the season. First biggest being the PP. If the team even had an average PP, they'd have 4-6 more points this season IMO.

There was also that Montreal game (4-2 loss), where we didn't show up in the first, but completely dominated the second and played pretty evenly in the 3rd (despite the 2 goals against).

I think this team is just in its annual "half season" slump. Just happened to hit the 2nd half of the season this year rather than the first half. Only hope is that Muller (or Francis, Lewis, Staal, Gleason, etc) speaks up and starts kicking some ass in the lockerroom before this spirals out of control.

Or they could be, ya know, gassed. Playoff-type scheduling + No depth = tired stars.

I heard through Twitter than Muller has found Paul Maurice's old system for making up lines, and is employing it now.

So it's not a concern then if they are just "gassed"? after playing 20 min of hockey?

Surely we will win this game tonight?

Or we will let this last place team come into Raleigh and play like they are one game away from the Stanley Cup.

I wonder if the concussion is still affecting Skinner. He doesn't look the same to me, particularly going into tough areas and along the boards. I realize he is also trying to do too much in the open on his own and not using his teammates effectively when he has the puck, but maybe that plays into it as well?

Before the concussion, he had 7G, 14 points in 12 games. Since the concussion, he's had 2G, 4 points in 10 games.

Yeah. He's not right and if I had to peg it on anything I'd say it's the concussion. Ruutu, we need you now.

I was wondering the same thing last night. He doesn't seem to want/show a physical aspect to his game, and it only makes him look worse as a whole. He already lacked defensive ability/physical ability, but it only seems more prominent now. I find myself hoping that he all of a sudden turns it around.
