16 points in 32 games on a low tier NCAA team shouldn't really worry you.

Like someone said in the Rumor and Proposal thread, realistically his upside is something like Paul Gaustad.

Good depth signing by Van.

At the very least, they got a full-time AHL'er

So that Andrej Sustr is coming out of college soon. Wouldn't mind taking a shot at him, big guys like that are pretty rare.

I believe Mckenzie mentioned that there are 20+ teams in on him, and that while an enticing prospect he's a long term project.

Yeah he sounds like a fairly long-term project even at 22. Someone I would love having in the Oilers system just solely based on his current abilities and most importantly his intangibles.

That's all I could base my interest in him on. Since I've never seen him play in live action. Apparently his footwork is his largest need for improvement which is fairly common for a guy of his size. Kids a monster.

I read somewhere that when Holmgren was asked about him he said when they scouted him there was always 28 other teams there.

@TSNBobMcKenzie: College UFA 6-foot-8 D Andrej Sustr will cull list of 20 to 25 interested NHL teams tomorrow and Friday, likely to sign by weekend.

So basically just about everyone is interested in this guy surely we are one of the 25 teams.
Maybe we get him this weekend we seem to have a way with big name college dmen

Here's some more on the guy I've mention a couple times now

"Andrej Sustr, Defense, Unsigned (Nebraska-Omaha):

Sustr is a very toolsy prospect with significant upside although with some risk as well. He remains unsigned as of this writing, but per TSNís Bob McKenzie he will leave school and sign with an NHL team. The 22 year old Junior was on the third All-WCHA team this season, notching 25 points in 39 games, putting him top 20 in NCAA scoring for defensemen. His skating is average, but notably above-average for a 6′8′í defenseman. His mobility has seen significant advancements in the last 12-24 months. Heís a good puck-mover too, showing nice touch with the puck and the offensive instincts to make unusual offensive plays for a player his size. For Nebraska-Omaha on the man advantage Iíve seen him be used in front of the net as a screen or a primary quarterback up high. This combo of traits make Sustr a very desirable asset with the potential to be a #3 if not a #2 defenseman. He is not a player without warts though, for one even though heís a huge player with a good wingspan, he isnít all that physical. His decisions in both ends, while not a major issue, could use some work as he can make the odd bad turnover or be off with his positioning."

If I was him, I'd want to sign with Boston.

I don't think there can be a better mentor than Chara for this kid.
