5 ) Seattle - - 57 pts ******
6) Moose Jaw - 58 pts
7) Regina - 58 pts.

Seattle drops out of the lottery bc as of now they are a playoff team.

Brandon should pick in the # 3 spot unless things changes during the last week or they move spots bc of the lottery
I errored with Brandon. Looking at last year's draft, I believe in the 1st round the non-playoff teams pick first. In subsequent rounds it goes by points. Therefore the 1st round should be (can change with the lottery or with remaining games):

1) Vancouver
2) Prince George
3) Brandon
4) Moose Jaw
5) Regina
6) Lethbridge
7) Everett
8) Seattle

With this draft order, I predict:

1) Vancouver - Benson
2) Prince George - Clague
3) Brandon - Patrick
4) Moose Jaw - Howden
5) Regina - Steel
6) Lethbridge - Quenneville
7) Everett - Jost
8) Seattle - Anderson

I don't know where you heard that rumor but I highly doubt it. I do know the Giants (obviously) have interest in Barzal but at this rate it doesn't even look like he will play major junior hockey. Assuming the Giants win the lottery they will without a doubt select Tyler Benson.

Fabbro will be in there, best dman behind Clague.

I've heard rumors that Benson was considering going the NCAA route or not reporting and playing with Edmonton (with his brother ). Could anyone see him doing this ?

As much as I would love that. I really hope he does not do that.

So Fabbro, Anderson and Barberis are the cream of the crop for BC defensemen?

No. I'd be shocked if that were to happen.

Great List MB Scout! The only one I would switch would be Fabbro for either Jost or Anderson. Fabbro is the 2nd best d man behind Clague and depending on what the needs are for each team, I think Everett or Seattle will grab him. I think you nailed the top 6 though!

I don't believe that by not reporting to a team means you can play with another WHL team. If you are selected by that team, then they have your playing rights and thus can't play or practice with another WHL team. He could play tier 2 or go the NCAA route but unless Edmonton can trade for him, it's doubtful he will ever end up in an Oil King uniform.

Be Smart Wheaties...

I like MBScout list, but I am hoping the Wheat Kings don't just settle on a MB boy. This will be there highest pick in years, they need to use it wisely. Not sure if either Patrick or Howden should be in the top 5.

Let's not jump the gun. Even if the Giants do get the #1 pick, there is no guarantee Benson even plays for them (full time) next season. He would still have to be granted exceptional player status something the WHL isn't too keen on doing.

The deadline has passed for applying for ES. So he will be playing Major Midget next year.

I have seen the same Wheat Kings game at the SSAC playoffs games so either watching benson or Quenneville full-time and Quennevilles older brother does play for the Wheat Kings so you never know

Good point. I completely overlooked that factor.

Fair enough. I just wanted to point that out as many Giants fans seem to be under the impression he will be with the team next season. First things first, they have to win the lottery. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Next year we should have Ty ronning making his debut, can't find any news on how he's been playing though

So far Stukel and Baer have looked more promising. Although it's far too early to base judgement. The future does look positive though.

So non-playoff teams?

So are these the teams involved in the lottery this week?

Vancouver
Prince George
Brandon
Regina
Moose Jaw
Lethbridge

Non playoff teams?

At what calibre is the Delta Wild Hockey Academy Ronning was playing for? Midget AAA, so a step below Major Midget?

I think Brandon's first pick will likely be the Patrick kid from Wpg. Howden won't be around long enough for Brandon to get him with their second pick in the first round.

Vancouver is looking for the next Lucic or Gallagher, big draft year for the G-Men.

Patrick's a risk, shoulder injuries, but he is good enough to take a chance on

Yeap-

Vancouver will grab Clague. To smart of a player to let go, goal scores can be found all over. Smart players are much harder to find.
