I totally agree with him on those points.

In regards to Kassian, really want to see him get 12-15minutes + tonight. Lets see what this kid can do out there, lets see him knock some people around, drive the net etc.

Unleash the KASSIAN!!!

Shorty is near tears right now defending AV. Superfan.

Problem was, what about the other nights this season. If the Canucks played that way most/all night - then we wouldn't be even having this discussion would we (I"m excluding the whiners/Dan Russell types who would always find something to complain about).

Not sure he's Superfan, I thinks he's exasperated like the majority of us. I'm of the EXACT same mind as he is... the players need to play period. Danny needs to be better (I asked this last night, is he injured? I have not seen him fumble the puck so much in - like - ever. Wrist injury?), the D needs to be WAY better and someone, some way NEEDS to step up and win a game for this team.

Shorty's point isn't a bad one, but the reality is that sometimes a coach can lose the room and the players simply do not want to play for him anymore. Good coaches do get let go.

It's maddening and it's frustrating, but it's hardly unique to this situation.

And the coach needs to be able to get the most of the players he does have. He hasn't.

Easier to fire the coach than the entire roster (sans Sedins).

I think over the last 5 games or so that has been the story, no finish, no closure, no commitment to core fundamentals.

Team has to wake up period.

This is what a coach should be able to control - at least a good one. And no, I'm not saying the players are completely blameless.

But IF the system the coach is employing is getting the team to direct 79 shots on net and only give up 39 shots HOW has he lost the room, HOW is he NOT getting the most out of the players?

His major failing may be that he is trying to play up tempo, aggressive hockey with a roster that probably should be playing like the Nashville Predators right now. His major failing may be that he is TRUSTING his playmakers, his vets, his leaders to come through and be clinical as they always have and they're not (D. Sedin, Burrows, Luongo, Edler etc.).

I mentioned this on Twitter last night but after the game where the Canucks have the live interview stream in the locker room etc., the PA at Rogers was playing "yesterdays gone".

Maybe THAT'S the overall issue... these aren't the Canucks we or AV know, for whatever reason they've lost something along the way and it's up to Gillis to reinvigorate/shake-up this roster to find/manufacture that spark again.

I should have qualified that, core fundamentals of hockey (score, defend etc... smart plays, put the puck in the net etc.) not system play. BUT, to your point AV has been saying that he wants to see two passes and a shot on the PP and the players are definitely NOT doing that.

So maybe they aren't listening?

Tonights game/result is going to say a lot about which the direction of this team/season... I'm hoping they can rise above it all, find even a shred of who they are and come out on top.

I don't care about the result. Sure I want them to win but the important thing is the compete level. Do they play like they want to win or will it be "business as usual"? There's always going to be games where you play well and still lose.

Sedin Sedin Kassasin
Raymond Schroeder burrows

this would be a better top 6 at least two line that score and more balanced. Burrows has better hand than Hansen and a shooter, perfect for Schroeder to pass too

I think what the Canucks are really missing is a push/threat for every line that challenges the opposition D, gets them turned around and causes them some grief. Last night only the Sedin line and the 4th line really generated any real threat/concern for the Wilds D. You're not going to win many games when you only have 2 lines going, especially if one is your 4th line with an undersized rookie center.

I like the ides of your lines above, to follow it through we'd have:

Sedin - Sedin - Kassian
Raymond - Schroeder - Burrows
Hansen - Higgins - Weise
Sestito - Lappy - Pinizzotto

At least each line can skate, hit and looks like it can generate some offense.

Except for all that blubbering, all he can come up with is 'everyone is trying their best, coaches are doing everything they can, but they're just not playing well'. Really?

The Sedins+Burrows are amazing at ES this year, and yet they somehow suck on the PP? Those two things don't go together. So what's the real issue then?

I'm not saying the team couldn't execute or play better - the D-Corps alone is enough to support that argument. But the coaches have to take their fair share of criticism, and there is lots of blame to spread around.

it make sense for Kassasin to be with Sedins since we playing a physical team.......

Raymond Schroeder has chemistry so they just need someone with some good hands

Who's coming out for Kassian? I hope we still go with 4 centers this game. Sad that I even had to type that line...

Sad but true. We're low on centers due to injury and lack of depth. Obvious solution is to play a winger at center instead of playing 4 centers....

Solution: Play Kassian at center.

He will just punch people out to win the faceoff.

The Sedins are getting mauled every game, there needs to be a price to pay (somebody should have gone after Suter last night, PP be damned). Tonight it should be Kassian or Sestito out there with Henrik and Daniel. Insert the sandpaper into the other lines as well. We may not have the deepest talent pool up front but we're going to make 'em pay.
