I hope for Jake Gardiner's sake that the team starts winning, lest the fans begin to pick on his every mistake and run him out of town.

Basically, I hope we the fans should keep our expectations in check.

Good to see! I really think they were waiting until Rielly was available before pulling Gardiner out of the Marlies lineup. His abilities are key to that team and now Eakins has a nice replacement.

Now the question is, who does Gardiner pair with? I'm thinking Phaneuf.

Gardiner - Phaneuf
Gunnar - Liles
Fraser - Franson

I like the idea of having a puck mover on all three pairings.

Good timing, so Holzer is lambasted for being up against Crosby and the Pens, Gardiner will be lauded for going up against Gerbe and a mess of a Buffalo team. Would have been nice to see our saviour against some real competition to start it off.

D pairings

Phaneuf - Gunnar
Liles - Gardiner
Franson - Fraser

You may questions Liles and Gardiner together which can be a soft pair but they can skate move the puck quickly out of the zone and avoid getting pinned in their zone.

Gardiner makes one move and frees up passing lanes or he can skate the puck out of his zone.

Ideally you want a more physical guy than Liles but his experience is going to help Gardiner.

I wonder who he will be paired with, probably Liles.

Phanuef/Gunnarsson
Liles/Gardiner
Fraser/Franson

Pretty sure Stamkos is on Tampa Bay. I think he's alright... no?

Gardiner worked well with Franson last season, if I recall correctly.

In all due respect, I thought Holzer played terribly and such and such... But the guy's personality is top-notch. Down to earth, humble etc. I Hope he can fix his mistakes and improve.
