Actually I think it was basically a perfect night, in terms of the Oilers playoff chances (this feels nicely strange to say) increasing.

Well that and Hartley, IMO, isn't a very good coach. he won a championship inheriting the late 90's colarado avalanche. I mean other than that he hasn't had much success at the NHL level.

He did have Sakic and Forsberg to play probably 80% of the game, so there was that.

I'm pretty sure Morin, Brookbank and Lalonde were on the bench and Polasek left the bench to join. That's why they got the games.

Vandermeer was actually on the ice at the time.

It's just odd. It's more like they don't mind the attention they have gotten from it. Although I love those crazy brawls myself, just seems weird that only 6 games will be missed out of that.

My best guess is the parent league, not naming names, may have said something to the effect "you know it's getting to crunch time and we can't have these guys sit out and get rusty"
