If's and buts... Perhaps, and perhaps Kunitz would have laid him out, he's been hit a few times already in the AHL, he's got to do a better job not taking licks.

Whatever he is, you can't tell me hes not an 'upgrade' on Holzer...

Difference is coaching. We're already in the lower half in goals against per game and having that bigger defense hasn't helped in the last handful of games. I don't expect Rotten Ronnie and Carlyle to coach the team the same way. Heck, if RW could make Beauchemin look bad, maybe it just wasn't the D corps.

I can't even count the number of times Holzer was just too slow to get to a loose puck in the defensive zone, allowing the forecheck to continue and scoring chances/goals to occur. Gardiner may not win the corner puck battles (not like Holzer was anyways), but he has the speed to get to loose pucks and start a transition the other way, or just simply chip the puck and allow for a change. Or actually skate the puck out of the blue line, or make a smart pass to one of our forwards, instead of panicking and throwing the puck behind our own end-line to the defensive partner, leading to a turnover. These little things have been desperately lacking lately.

And I am a Holzer fan btw, I think he can be a solid shutdown NHL d-men, he was just way in over his head lately and needed to be sent back down.

Though on this board, people might look the other way, because they play favorites. Holzer and Kostka are not the puck handlers like Gardiner is, but one thing they do better is stand up to the physicality of NHL players. If Gardiner had played against the Crosby line, many here would be posting bring back Holzer, fickle Leafs fans.
Yeah I don't think people would be running back to Holzer, especially to have him replace Gardiner.

You can be as big as you want, if you can't move the puck, you're dead in this league!

yes!
Gardiner up
Holzer sent down.

A GardenHolz transaction.

Can't wait to see him rush the puck out of trouble. Leafs need that. Recently they have been hemmed in their own zone and cant clear for their lives.

Hallelujah!

I hope Gardiner can gain Randy's confidence in the next 2 games. He might get sent down for good this time if he struggles in the next couple games (due to 3 game waiver exemption).

Wonder what the D is gonna look like now.

No you don't. You tell it like you think it is. And you are wrong as much as anyone is on these boards.

Not everyone here thinks he is a saviour. Most think he is an uprgrade on what Leafs have up here. Some like myself hope his puck moving ability will cause teams not to be as aggressive on the forecheck as they have been.

Interactif.

You can't blame Gardiner for taking a blind side hit from a guy and getting concussed, that is just plain backwards. Is it Crosby's fault he got his bell rung?

He deserves and has the talent to be on this team, if anything I believed Carlye would have been a little more astute in dealing with him since he went through the same thing with Roger back when he was a rookie.

I'm getting tired of guys throwing players under the bus and making up these ridiculous explanations why things are not going there way. I think you were one of the guys that had Kadri on the bus out of town as well.

I wonder how fast Jakes' minutes will be over the 20 minutes mark. I say he cracks it first game.

For that, you should have to sit and listen to Interactif for a whole game. That is so backwards that I think most posters heads on this board are spinning faster than the exorcists head right now.

Seems more logical come to think of it. Don't think Carlyle is fond of having so many Lefties on the ice at the same time.

I feel a bit bad for Liles if thi sis the case though as he really has played pretty well in the last couple games.
