www.bpl.org - Boston Public Library

or your local branch

will have an electronic section

Sometimes they will have a class on how to use your e-reader.

I'm gonna own a Nook when the tax return comes -

So in September I'm going to be flying to Italy from either Boston or Providence...or maybe from Boston to JFK to Italy if it's cheaper.

Every flight seems to cost at least $1000 which is a lot of money.

Anyone here have experience getting a cheap flight? And which airlines you've had good and bad experiences with?

I haven't flown too often in the past.

for international flights, you're often going to be able to pick one of cheap and good experience, not both

if you're going to go good experience, i had a wonderful experience on lufthansa three years back; i had made the mistake of being a smart-ass in a meeting, so instead of flying to korea going west, i left going east

which actually wasn't awful, lufthansa owns bones, while the united flights i've usually taken there have all been about as much fun as <place unfun happenstance here>

on the flip side, getting a flight in under 5 hours meant my company spent $11K for a single flight; that was interesting

Hmm thanks dp.

I'll probably choose the cheap and unpleasant option then.

Business class on Lufthansa has always been an enjoyable experience for me. To Italy and Germany.

But yeah, my company paid for the tix, not me.

that was $11k for a coach seat

irony of ironies, it would have been cheaper to fly the same flight business class, but seat policy trumps common sense

Thanks Wally, I'm going to have to pay for the flight myself so I'm looking for a relatively inexpensive option.

Lufthansa is still good in coach if you can swing it. Service, being on time, etc... It will be cramped though. If you are over 5 foot 8 I suggest planning on getting up often just to stretch a bit.

I'm in the 5-8 /5-9 range so I think I'll be okay. I'll check Lufthansa out.

Do you have a recommendation about how far in advance to buy airline tickets?

Thanks for the advice.

Sorry, no clue on that. When I go its usually only known to me a week or so in advance if at all and my company takes care of all that.

to tear out a bunch of unimportant stuff, the ticket was ticket was booked at 3pm and i took off at 740

i am 6'2", 180 lbs, 34W-34L, 10 in and it was a comfortable time on both flights in coach, certainly more so than ExtendedLegRoom or whatever extortion united is running nowadays

The first show my label is putting on is friday. One band dropped out since they're having transportation issues. Another is having a problem with equipment. Should still be a good show.

Venue was $70 to rent
Photographer was $200 for 3 hours

$5 to get in probably will recoup my $70 investment if not I don't really care this is the beginning and am pushing for a bigger show at a better venue in June and have 3 bands already saying ok.
