As of now...correct.... But things can change.

Does Philly dumping contracts and giving the money to Bryz count?? It's the closest thing I can think of.

Does anyone honestly think Miller is going to sign here a year from now?

It's not gonna happen.

Take the best deal you can get.... Goalies are weird. They come out of nowhere and leave just as quickly.

Constantly solid goaltending is rare... And even if your argument is that Miller is that, if he won't resign here for a decent deal long term you have to get something for him. You try to extend him if you think he's your guy, if you can't because he won't you move him for the best deal by a self imposed deadline.

You have to operate your franchise like you won't have Vanek, Pominville or Miller in 2015, because until you do, you don't... And we are awful, so they are less likely to want to stay.

when he was traded for a 1st... at 29 with less than 100 starts, and a cheap 2 year contract?

Or when he was dumped along with Blake for Giguerre?

When he was acquired coming off of two disappointing seasons following a surge of elite play by an overreaching GM who felt that it was worth taking a risk on an aging goalie to reclaim his former ability. While he had one year remaining on his contract.

Those are the parameters I set in my original 9 9 9 plan

I think Philly is the best bet. We take back Bryz try to get other valued things because of Bryz (Couts, 1st, Simmonds, the rest of their prospects are pretty undesirable) something valuable to our future.
Philly is the only place I can see and really only because we take Bryz and Holmgren loves big deals.

id take bryz back if it got us Couturier

i'd keep bryz for 2 full seasons before buying him out (unless he turned it around... doubtful)

so essentially you think Miller has minimal to no trade value

We have enough long term iffy contracts.

Save the buyout for Leino.

I could see us drafting 4th overall Barkov and having a line of
Leino-Barkov-Armia

Not really. They have two at the most (Leino, Myers).

Bryzgalov and Couturier for Miller?I'd jump on that in a heart beat. The drop off from Miller to Bryz would be somewhat noticeable but if it brought back Couturier it would be well worth it.He could anchor a shutdown 3rd line for the next ten years.

Unless you think 2007 Mark "#YOLO" Bell was worth a 1st, 2nd and 4th, I'm not following.

Toskala
Bell

1st (13th) 2007
2nd 2007
4th 2009

I know we all hate Leino but can you pick a better time.... perhaps when he doesn't have 3 points in 3 games played this year and has looked pretty good in his return.

You mean an offer like "Move one or both of them or you're fired"?

Is THIS how Leino looks when he shows up for a game?

I think moving one of the big 3 THIS YEAR is absolutely necessary. You're not going to get better value for Vanek or Pominville than at the deadline this year to a hungry team.

that said, I want to keep Vanek... so move Captain Lumpy.

I'd like to commit to a full rebuild and move all but Vanek.

Let's get this show on the road.
